Picking up my intake today

Just got off the phone with the parts guy at Sansone RT. 1 Automall today. The owner goes to my gym (purchased the car directly through him) and he's giving me the employee discount on all parts I buy through the dealership. The guy quoted me the Mazdaspeed CAI for $282.50 (rockon). I think that is pretty good considering the cheapest I've seen the new ones for is upwards of 350. I also got a price on the cbe, $522.50 since he has to order it and is out of stock. Not what I was hoping for, but still cheaper than all the aftermarket sites.

I'll post pics later on if I get time to install it tonight. Anyone have any tips before I get started?

522 for mazdaspeed catback?

yes.

so, while i was there i just said **** it, i'll have them install it for a discounted price. ended up getting the bigger bolt replaced per the recall as well as my oil changed. talked to the tech working on my car the whole time he was doing it and learned a few new things.

1. don't use synthetic oil on this car as it cause a jump in the timing as the engine was not designed for it. (not sure if this has been gone over on here)

2. the warranty on the intake does not cover water damage, only mechanical. (again, havent seen this on the forum)

3. the father of my chemical romance's lead singer and bass player works at the dealership there, i met him.

that's what i said...

he went to school to learn about this engine (as well as others) and told me the engine wasn't designed to run on synthetic, and doing so will jump the timing. oh well, i trust him, and i get free oil changes so i don't have to worry about it anymore :).

I'm not the brightest bulb in the drawer by any means, but I do know a little about cars and. . . . . ..

I can't see how under any imaginable circumstances. . . ever. . . in the entire universe. . .for any reason whatsoever. . . at all. . . .in the whole wide world. . . . how changing to synthetic oil would effect the ignition timing of the engine....:bs:

Thats pretty tight about MCR.. . . .

yeah i was in shock too about the oil... don't really know either way.
i love MCR so meeting him, although he's not part of the band, was kinda cool.

This sure is one very advanced car to be able to do that. I wonder what would happen if I ran a thicker oil than recommended.

OHNOOES! Unplug your oil type sensor and you'll be ok. Reset the ECU and pump the brakes!

Synthetic oil and turbo cars go together like Chinese food and chocolate pudding.

im just about to do another oil change should i switch back to reg oil? i dont really see how syn. oil would effect timing...
