Well, after many months of looking I found an MP3. I'm leaving Colorado today and picking up an MP3 tomorrow then to turn around and come right back. Going to be a long trip, but looking forward to it. Hope they are a comfortable ride. To bad about the cruise controll, was reall hoping MP3's had them. I'll post some pics when I get it.

how far away is the car? I flew then drove home 1200miles to get mine when it was new :)

congrats on the purchase!!!!!!!! You'll love it (especially all the noises the suspension makes !!!!!! but no worries, they're normal). I only had to drive 2 minutes to get mine! But I would have driven to the end of the world for it. I love my mp3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We love our MP3! Its ride is not bad. On a long haul drive your right foot can get tired holding the throttle steady. I get about 30-33 MPG at 75-85 MPH on the interstate highways.

Ahaha are you going to AZ to get it? If so, I know who's it is- used to be mine. The kid I sold it to blew it up- had it re-built and is now selling it.

lol, he must've not had it for long

Finally got back after a 1200 mile drive, man that was long. Comfortable car to drive and very tight, I can see what everyone talks about.

That rear end noise everyone talks about, is it a noise that sounds like something is loose and knocking around? If so, yeah that is annoying as s***.

I have a problem with the heat, there is none. And when I put it on defrost, the A/C kicks on. Does anyone have a problem with this, or know what it may be? It blows no heat what so ever. Any help on this would be great.

It also has a B&M short shifter on it but it has a horrible amount of sloppy play in it. Would the shifter bushings from Kartboy help this?

hmmmmm, thissounds very fimiliar. when i picked up my mp3, the heat did not work. it was easy to fix, all i did was make sure the cable that the control knob moves was hooked up correctly. it was not so i slipped the cable surround into a little clip under the dash and have had no problems with it since.

do you mean when you turn the function selector knob (the knob on the right) the air temperature changes? if that is the case, your cables may be swapped around. if you pull off the center dash piece (the one with the "fake carbon fiber") you will see two cables, swap them and see if that fixes your problem. the previous owner may have had that piece off and just hooked it back up incorrectly.

my mp3 also has a b&m ss and it is really sloppy. if anyone knows of a fix for this please post it. i thought it may be normal (dunno). it has not ben that big of a deal to me so i havent bothered to research it.

ok heres how to fix the heater problem (most likely since this is what happens on MOST MP3's).
First take the glovecompartment box off. Just squeeze in the side of the compartment and pull and it should come out. next locate the cable behind the a/c controls.

now see the part where it says "pull out and off" on the pic (not my pic, i jacked it) do the opposite. If your cable is not connected to the white tab thingy, then just put it on.

and also the car will automaticly turn the a/c on when you turn on the defrost. If you want to learn how to dissable it go here.

MP3Architect and Sampson, thank you. I will try this right now. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I also notice that when turning the temperature knob from cold to hot and vise versa, it seems somewhat difficult to turn. Is this normal?

mine is easy to turn. just make sure the cables are not run in such a way that they make a really sharp turn. they should not need lubricating. all my cables and stuff have lots of excess grease on them so that shouldnt be a problem.

all you need to repair the clunk problem is to go to the mazda store and have the rear sway bushings replaced...you'll have to do this often...not too often...but still.

to calm down the sloppy shifter, buy the kartboy bushings ($25)...if that doesn't work, just get a different shifter. i have the kartboys on my mp3...i also have a kartboy shifter i haven't installed yet. the previous owner bent one of the shift forks...so once i get that repaired, i'll put on the shifter.
