Perfect Power PRS8 Standalone

I can't wait to hear more about the Lamda/WBO2 tuning, and the bigger MAF options. :D

From what I understand, in the Lamda tunning map/window, you set up A/F target ratios, and tune for them. I'm gonna quote MPNick on the way he described how Lamda 02 tuning works with the MPI tunner. I assume it works simillarly, if not exactly the same:

MPNick said:
We now have 8 tuning columns, each O 2 tuning columns have 16 rows. The rows are for rpms and the columns are for throttle. You will set the high and low limits for both the throttle columns and the rpm rows. Some cars redline at 7,000 the next maybe 5,500. Keep in mind that we use the MPI Tuner on all types of cars, so you will need to set the points for your car.

If you what to have 12.5 afr at one point, lets just say at 40% throttle and 3,400 rpm. You go to the 40% column and type in 12.5. Then go to the 3,400 rpm row in this column and give it some cotrol, lets say 25%. Drive the car and check the AFR at this point. If it is 13.2, you need to give the 3,400 row more control. Try 35% and drive the car again. If it is now 12.1 afr you when to far. Go back and try 30% in that row. We give you a lot of point for tuning, will not take long to get it right.

The Bosch LM-11 sensor would be used with the PRS8 setup.

It'll be cool to hear your car doing 18 psi sometime before I die... (band2)

Cool...Took a minute to figure out what you meant, but I think I see what you are saying about tuning it.

Just got my 24-wire harness. SWEET! Now all I need is my PRS unit back from Perfect Power. (thumb)

Looks like a nice setup.. looks a lot like the mpi tuner minus the lambda page. Making adjustments and tuning are very simple. I cant wait to see how this works out for you.

Linux, I'm confused here. Is the PRS8 the same thing as the MPI Tuner? Or very similar or something? If so, how come you didn't just go with the MPI? Or did you get a deal? Curious. Can't wait for your results :D

I would have gotten the MPI Tuner if I hadn't gotten the "deal" I got on this unit. The PRS (Pro Race System) standalones and the Piggybacks (MPI Tunner) are not the same. They have very similar software, but are not the same. The short definitions: A standalone has the ability to control everything the engine does (replacing the stock ECU), while a piggyback usually intercepts signals from the stock ECU, and sends out it's own modified signals. I wanted to do something different, so here I am at this point in the venture.

hope it comes soon!

i may have to trek up to dfw again this summer and see this beast in action.

Hmm...after going home and looking at my reciept, it has a destination for Sweeden. :wtf: The address on the label clearly states South Africa.

DAMN dude that sucks! Hopefully it won't get lost! Maybe it had to go there, then down to Africa.(uhm)

(probetalk thing)(wink)

Just buy the emanage and be done with it. Someone on the S2K forum figured out how to control timing also with it. He said it basically does the same as the AEM EMS. But way cheaper. Good luck with your PMS thingy though. (the PMS joke was on purpose:D)
