People Suck

Had just pulled into a parking spot at Staples yesterday when a Subaru Legacy wagon pulls in next to me. The Subaru was way too close to me and I don't think the emo kid in the passenger side was gonna open his door too carefully. I said screw this and backed out and parked somewhere else.

THEN.

I get home at night, park my car, and go upstairs. When I come down to let the cat in, a UHAUL van had parked directly next to me, with a very little amount of space between my 2 and the van. The 2's door would not be able to extend fully out, nor would the UHAUL van's. MAYBE 3/4 of the way, even that is doubtful. I was pissed. It's a freaking empty parking lot! And he had to park right next to me, but not only that, obnoxiously close. I jumped in my ride, moved my car. Checked for damage in the morning and I was SHOCKED there were no dings or damage.

People suck.

So two people parked next to you and didn't hit your car. Am I missing something?

You must have good luck in life if this bothers you. If it makes you feel any better, someone once walked to the very end of a wal-mart parking lot because my rx-7 looked like a good place to wipe the gum off of their shoe. Yes people suck...but the harmless stuff doesn't even bother me anymore. Now the drunk driver in front of me today drifting mostly into the the other lane during every right-hand turn and into the grass on every left hand turn....that bothered me.

Yeah, people do suck. Seems that a large percentage of people go out of their way to do stupid irritating disrespectful s*** then get bent when they are called on it or offended by normal people taking protective measures to care for their property or who are just fed up with dumbasses' bulls***. **** them all. Clueless oblivious disregard for others without consequence is going to be the downfall of this country. Catering to stupid ***** and focusing punishment on those who react negatively to incitement from stupid fuckery is insane. Stupid needs to be it's own victim and Darwinism should rule. But of course that's just insensitive nontolerance so that won't work. Don't even think about killing anyone who breaks into your house or threatens your life in some way cuz that'd just be wrong.

Damn, just hurt myself laughing at that last bit.........

Everything this guy said! Haha.

Well, the Subaru that pulled in real close next to me - I'm pretty sure that the kid would have just flung his door open. It was so close that I thought the Subie's side mirror was gonna clip mine. I pulled out and parked somewhere else. Yes, I realize the kid could have fully been respectful and open his door with car, but his mother clearly was a bad driver to have pulled in so far right of the parking spot. Her backing out and straightening the park job wasn't even a consideration it seemed.

There was just no excuse for the UHAUL. Wide open parking lot - of course you can park next to me, but damn, dude - you didn't need to be so close to me that neither you or I could open our door more than 3/4 of the way. It's stupid, and a blatant disregard for other people's property. He had a UHAUL, so I'm sure he didn't give a flying damn.

It takes just a moment of knuckleheadedness, which can easily be prevented, to cause hundreds of dollars in damages to someone's car.

Haha, well unfortunately to some a car is simply a car... A metal box with wheels in which one fills with gas to transport from A to B... Drives me flipping crazy but alas to some its simply not a priority and thus does not translate that maybe someone else cares more about their car than you do since your idea of TLC is maybe washing it a couple times a year through an automated car wash...

I mean c'mon I understand a car is meant to be driven so wear and tear is expected but you don't see me running up and punting you're expensive handbag across the room... Have some respect.

It's nowhere near anyone's right to be careless with other people's property. If they have no respect for their own fine but that doesn't by any means give them any legit reason to **** up someone elses s*** that does care and take pride in theirs. I realize someone who doesn't care about their own s*** isn't capable of having any concern for anybody elses but they need to be held responsible and suck up the consequences of their own actions, not innocent caring people always left holding the ******* bag. It's just too much anymore. Once in awhile oops s*** happens is one thing but nowadays it's just a constant barrage of bulls*** and reasonable folks are fed up and are growing unable to keep taking it with a smile on their face and pity in their heart for dipshits and how they got to be that way.

People don't give me nearly as much respect on the road in my 2 compared to when I'm in my truck or company truck. Seems like I get pulled out in front of and crowded off the road alot..

I get that too...funny thing is in my miata which was shorter and much lower, people actually moved out of my way quite frequently.

fact...people did not door ding any of my new mustangs in the 6 years I drove them....but my 2 (and wife's 5) get riddled with them starting at about a week after owning it...People are dbags and I have to think many are redneck uaw workers with no freaking respect.

My daily is a Mazda, but my weekend/track car is a Porsche Boxster. I once parked it way in the back of the parking lot where it was completely empty. The closest car being about 15 parking spots closer to the shopping center. I come out of the store and go back to my car to see a huge Van parked right next to it. It's annoying but there's nothing we can do.

(rlaugh) I used to do that when I was in college, driving my 1991 Mercury Tracer with 4 different colored body panels. Loved it just to make "that guy" (so, you, in this case) sweat. The more of a douchebag they parked like, the "better" I'd make it. Had a lambo parked in the "corner" between 4 spaces. I got my car completely in my parking space, completely blocking his driver's side door.

That is why I loved driving this truck for yrs and yrs. It had door dings, it had rock chips in the windshield, it had different colors, it wasn't limited to pavement during traffic jams, it had double tube rear bumper hungry for asshole driver's grills but it was completely functional and dependable and a tank for jumping and having fun offroad then coming back on the road completely muddy and slinging s*** at cars that wanted to follow too closely. It was my "I suck because I don't have to worry about this vehicle for any reason" ride, lol.

Complete opposite trying to keep a lowered P5 in good shape. Damn I miss that truck :'(

Yeah but unfortunately, my car is filled with door dings and paint chips. Too many people bang their doors against my car.
Just look at what these two people did. My car is the black one sqeezed in the middle. Even other Porsche drivers mess with me.

the giant mommy porsche probably just wanted to be next to you because of relation...but being as they are a stereotypical porsche driver their parking skills lack...but I agree those spots are narrow anyway..only way you would not have issues is if you got a smart fortwo car.

everytime i park either:

a. next to somebody who had a bad park job/is over the line (or)
b. i park solo, then see somebody pull in bad next to me (or)
c. i have to park next to the POS 80s mercedes w/ dents and duct tape everywhere...

i go and blatantly take a picture of the back of my/their car to have their license plate information ready to go if they eff up and try to pull some s***.

reason being: i drove my dad's mazda 6 to the vet one time and some d-bag in a large F250 pulled up next to me while i was still in the car, and hit the door when he got out... proceeded to pretend he didn't see me in the car (100% did because he looked directly over after hitting the door), and went into the vet. once he went in, i check the door and saw a quite significant scuff/black paint mark...

took the picture of the license plates, reported him... got $ (although it took forever)

You should've been really persistent in your attempts to pursue this. And lucky too, if your insurance (?) got to the bottom of it.

And I thought I was paranoid, parking my 2 always at the very end of a mall parking lot, preferably in a corner stall (so that at least one side is never under threat). But then my own daughter banged the passenger door against our own house -- and what could I do about it?

It was so much easier driving an old car. Somebody scrapes against you in traffic? Yeah, give me $50 for my pain and suffering. Don't have $50, only $20? OK, that's fine, see you around...
