Pennzoil Platinum super cheap at WalMart

Local Walmart in Suwanee (North GA) has tons of PP jugs w/ the tag (breakn)......Stocked up big time....

Today's dinner plan: Chicken Carbonara with caramelized onions sauteed in PP 5W30....Might improve my mileage ;)

Which one??? (at Satellite and Law'ville-Suwanee Rd)

**UPDATE**

You guys whose local Wally Worlds don't have the rebate tags on the jugs, rejoice: rebate form is available on Pennzoil's website.

EDIT: looks like using that form pushes back the deadline but limits the number of rebates to one per person/address/household, as opposed to two on the Wally World form. Better than nothing, I guess.

Gah, so I went to Wal-mart, which isnt to close to me, and they didnt have any Pennzoil Platinum in stock. Not even quarts. So, this must be all over fatwallet and slickdeals.

Only two days left for this deal. Found some just in time - purchased 2!

Guys, while this may be a great deal, is this synthetic motor oil as good as the rest out there? Does it have the same protective characteristics as say Amsoil or Royal Purple? Is all synthetic oil basically the same?

Oh boy here we go. There are many people with many many many different opinions out there that will tell you to only buy this type or that type of oil. I personally have never had any problems with Penzoil Platinum and think it is a great Synthetic oil.

it can't compare to amsoil, redline, german castrol, and other more exotic synthetic oils out there... basically, NOT all synthetics are the same!

BUT, pennzoil platinum is a great oil for its price... you just can't expect it to be in the "awesome" category... you get what you pay, simple as that... FYI, pennzoil platinum is made from Group III base stocks which is 100% hydrocracked oil... its s*** that came out of the ground and got highly refined/modified so that it's "synthetic"... it's NOT true synthetic in the strictest sense but is considered this way based on crappy american laws... mobil1 is a mix of this stuff and group IV PAO base stocks, which is also why mobil1 isn't considered a true synthetic either compared to the stuff years ago

just like cars, you compare them in the same class and same price range... you can't compare an ms3 to an m3 for example ;)

so in otherwords, I'm not here to debate about oil nor say this is crap... it's good stuff for what you pay, (way better than the supertech piss!) but don't expect it to top expensive s*** like amsoil

finally, I don't see any reason why any of you still want to buy 5W30 when the temporary smoking turbo fix is to run 5W40

how is it less efficient when it can offer better protection through a higher flash point and better shear strength?
