This is prolly a pretty bad question but i was wondering if you guys could tell me a little about the installation of these two upgrades. What time is either gonna take, what tools, things like that. I did a few searches but wasnt getting the hits i needed.

Thanks guys,

Pedals : do you just want to install cover type one (some are rice looking, but some are pretty nice)? That takes about 20 minutes to do.

Shift knobs : if it's a model that fits on the shift stick, less than 2 minutes. A Momo type one is a bit trickier 'cause you need to find a way so the set screws stay tight (I used loctite).

Tools : allen keys and screwdrivers

Basically, both items come with all the necessary hardware and instructions. To take off your shift knob just twist it to the left, then screw on your new one. Unless you have an automatic, I don't exactly know how those work. The pedals are just simple covers that go on top of your stock ones. Pretty simple, about 20 mins for the pedals and 10 or less for the shift knob. Depending on what type and brand you get.

Arent there pedals that aren't just covers? The covers may look a bit gimmicky and cheap, depending on how they actually apply.

Just thought I'd mention that with some pedals(sparco, momo), you have to drill holes into your stock pedals to install them.

EXACTLY!!! I put MOMO pedals on the wife's P5 and I had to drill holes. Not really a problem until it comes to the gas pedal in which you have to be careful that you don't drill into the spring mechanism that allows this pedal to pivot. As a matter of fact, the gas pedal on the P5 has no cover at all, the pedal is actually plastic as oppossed to the brake and clutch which are metal with rubber covers. On the brake and clutch, you have to be careful as to where you drill to allow yourself enough room to put the nuts on the bolts. Not all MOMO pedals are this way though, some have the little metal clips that just clamp down.

As far as shift knobs go, some screw on (not many) and some use set screws to hold them in place. The problem with this is, the stock configuration has a plastic piece that holds the boot up may prevent you from dropping the set screw cover ring down far enough. You can remove the plastic ring, but the boot will not stay up on its own and you have to find a way to hold it up. In our case, I put on a Momo knob, I took the entire center console loose after the knob was installed and pulled it higher than the knob and zip tied the boot in place and when I placed the console back down, the boot just folded over the tie covering it up. We are eventually going to replace the boot with the Momo one and it will screw onto the botton of the knob, but that is how I dealt with the problem for now.

Ok, sorry to ramble so much.

Hey Giff, that's a good idea. I can't believe I hadn't thought of that. Was it hard taking off the plastic ring, well anyways, I'll find out when I get home. As for the Pedals, mine just had metal clamps on the back that tightend around the pedal. I know a lot of people say that the slip on pedals look bad, but mine came out really nice IMO. Just click on the www button on the bottom there to check em out.
