Today my remote opener for my P5 would open only 3 doors and the hatch - would not open the passenger door
Any ideas
thanks pjh:confused:

Can you engage the lock using the switch inside the car? If not than the lock itself is probably just stuck the mechanism is working it just can't push open the stuck lock

the key will unlock/lock the passenger door but the remote will not (or the switch on the drivers door either)
other 3 doors and hatch - lock & unlock with this switch or remote
??

must be a loose connection then, cause th switch on the door operates the door through the same line/wire as the remote sensor. The dealer should be able to isolate the problem and fix it. If I'm wrong about any of this, please coorect me, but I'm sure that's gotta be what it is.

Thanks - Can not hear any activation noise in the door and the lock post does not move at all - but will work manually.
I thought it may be a loose connection or a bad solinoid or motor (whatever operates the lock?)

thanks again

Just an update - the weather warmed up abit over the wk-end and the lock started working - must have just been frozen
thks pjh:)

If it was frozen, you wouldn't have been able to open it with the key. It's definitely electrical. Get it checked before it shorts something out.

WRONG!
The key operates via a seperate lock rod.Its an either or thing. One rod from the lock actuator will lock and unlock the lock(WAAY TOO MANY LOCKS) and one rod fron the key cylinder goes to the lock as well.It may have been frozen or it could be a sign of it(actuator )going bad.It is also possibble that there is a loose connection or bad wire to the actuator as well.A bad wire can be affected by hot/cold relativaty to density and create a break.I have seen wires affected by temperature changes where at cooloer or hotter temps the wire will lose contact and regain contact as the temps change.
Matt
hope this all made sense
