I'm not sure how many of you that visit this forum live in the South Florida area or even take your cars to the Palm Beach Mazda here, but I would like to advise you to STAY AWAY from them. Their level of customer service has to rank among the lowest of any dealership I have ever been to.
Yesterday, I took my car in to see if they could tell me if the bluish-white smoke eminating from my tailpipe at idle was the result of the seals on the turbo. Before them evening taking the car to have a car at they had already informed me that would not be able to do anything about it because I had "heavily" modified the car i.e. CAI, TBE. They then proceeded to take the car around the back to the shop and take a look and said that it was in fact the seals on the turbo that were bad and that the turbo needed to be replaced. I spoke to the service manager and asked him why it wouldn't be covered under warranty. His words were even though they had had quite a few cars with this same issue come in both modified and unmodified that he was not going to do anymore replacing of the turbos on vehicles that had been modified. I asked him if they had been able to prove that the exhaust had been the cause of the leaky turbo seals to which he responded "I don't have to prove anything to you". I then asked him doesn't the Magnusson(sp) Act and the law state that verifiable proof must be presented before warranty can be denied to which h said "I don't give a s*** about the law" and then threatened to void my entire powertrain warranty. By the way the Service Managers name is Todd S.
I then asked for my keys back and left. I then went to Delray Mazda which is where I had purchased the vehicle and they were alot more understanding and said they would take a look at the issue. They found that the exhaust was not the culprit of the issue but when they went to call MazdaUSA to see if they could get a replacement they found that Palm Beach Mazda had already put in a call and had my vehicle flagged for modification.
I have a call in now to the district manager explaining to him the bad ass service I had receieved. Let's see how that goes.
UPDATE!
MazdaUSA got back in contact with me today and basically said that the ruling of the District Manager to void my warranty stood. Because I had chosen to put aftermarket parts on the car (CAI, TBE) and that those parts cause changes to the engine (a/f changes) is what she said that is why the warranty was voided. I explained to her that Delray, Mazda had performed checks on the car and found that the exhaust was not the culprit. She said it did not matter and that if I wanted more of a "technical" answer I would have to revisit the intial dealership I brought the car to (Palm Beach Mazda), yah cuz they were loads of help. They were nice enough to keep the rest of my warranty intact such as if my radio breaks they would be nice enough to cover that under warranty (Yippee ****** Great). I'm sure if my radio did ever break they would come up with another bulls*** excuse as to why they can't cover it under warranty. So in the end NO PROOF really doesn't matter. Basically whatever the manager says is what goes. Wow do I wanna go back to PBM and beat the living **** outta Todd (sorry im just angry). I am still not going to let this stand I am still going to continue to fight with them and see if anything ever comes out of. Less than 3k miles on the car and warranty voided. Thanks Mazda, look foward to buying many more cars from you.
BTW out of all the CA intakes on the market Mazdas is the only one I have seen to cause CEL's and has been pulled from the market. AWESOME. not to mention they also sell CBE's but I guess i forgot those are ok because they don't change a/f ratio's.
