painting stock rims

i was looking at other threads and dont know if i should powdercoat or spray paint my stock rims. i really want to paint them because its cheaper. but what i was wondering is when you have to change tires and the paint job gets messeed up is it hard to re-paint the edge of the rim.

I know it's easier said than done...but if I were to paint a wheel, I'd take the tire off and make sure the entire wheel is painted and cleared. I'd imagine it would similar to a body repair. You wouldn't refinish a door without taking the mouldings, door handles, belt mouldings off etc, or it will peel down the road...I'd assume the same thing would happen with the wheels if you paint them with the tires still on.

i would rather powdercoat .. some people have been complaining about chipping or wearing down of the paint. but i guess if u use good paint it wont do that.
