painting my rims

simple green works, sand them down good before u paint, if there is any shine when the rim dries the paint wont stick for long, use 400 grit and wet sand, pressure wash after if u have it
then wipe it down with acetone or window cleaner before paint and make sure the rims is dry, check the holes where the lugs go cuz thats where water tends to stay put, use a hair dryer cuz it really helps
primer, paint, paint, paint, clear, clear and ur done
i would suggest using actual car paint and car clear from a paint gun
i painted my p5 wheels with spray paint and one tire change and they were tore up, i was pretty pissed lol

Some kind of cleaning agent and water would probably be a good place to start.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a perfect example of a worthless post. Likely spoken by someone who just loves to hear themself talk. It's neither funny or informative and doesn't spark conversation or even voice opinion. It's just worthless.
Take note all internet forum users. Don't be THIS guy.

That is all.

EDIT: If you are really trying to help and thought that I was not familiar with the soap+water=clean theory, I guess thanks for the tip but you are about 35 years too late. Please accept my apology.
I get the feeling this was just a lame attempt at being a smart @ss.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like good advice.

95% of painting wheels the right way is the prep: clean, sand, clean, clean... and when you think it's clean enough, clean some more.

The other 5% is the actual painting itself.
yup

wow i had no idea this thread was still alive
i have made my choice in cooler and hopefully will get to do it over the next month

Oh, and dont sand them, use an adhesive promoter. That way if ANYTHING happens and you need to get that paint off you can without making your wheels look like ass cause the factory clear is gone from sanding.

That green self etching primer seems to work nice
