Painting Door Stopper

Painting Door Moldings

hi

I drive a 2001 LX and the door stoppers are not painted... so i got a couple questions for you

-first if i remove those... what's underneath are they just glued or snapped(if you have a pics of what it looks like ... post it)Or can i just pick up some that are already painted from a junk yard?

-do i have to remove them for paint or just leave it on?

-And what about the handles... what would be the best thing to do:

-paint them... or just go to a junk yard and pick up some silver one... if its from the junk yard can i exchange the key holes from one handle to another

and one last thing are the handles and door stopper the same on the protege and the protege5

thanks hope you guys know the answer!!!

Yea these "door stoppers" are on glue. They are pretty much useless unless a shopping cart is rolling extremely slow towards the side of your car. Other than that, there is no point of having them on the car....at least on the protege because of those things' low location. In my opinion Protege looks better without them, thats why I have removed mine completely.

As far as painting....yea you'd have to remove them to paint. I would definetly NOT recomend painting anything on the car unless you remove it first.

Well you can pick up some from junk yard but you would have a hard time putting them back on your car, unless you would use some double-sided tape like "3M". Reason being, most of the junk yards won't take these particular parts for you meaning they won't sell them to you as they don't have it in their computer systems. Now, those few junk yards that allow people to walk in and strip anything off of a car and then at the exit pay for it, would problably allow you to do so.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to paint the handles? or get different ones?

and yea, door handles are the same on Sedan and Pro-5.

i want to paint them because they are plastic black and my car is silver...

my question is: what is the less expensive : paint the door handles or pick up some silver handles at a junk yard

thanks alex

gotcha. Well it would definetly be cheaper to paint them, but quality might not turn out as good as factory one. I doubt that the handles are THAT expensive from junk yard. Check the junk yards around your house and see how much they want for these handles.

hey, i've got some silver door guards ones if you want them...

my estimate (i need to weight them)
for 2-3 days is $50
3-5 days $25
4-10 days $20

let me know if your still interested and i'll get near as exact $$ as i can

I watched a woman open the door on her taurus and hit my car, but the door hit the door guard. Good thing too because I would have been screaming at her a second later. That's why I'm going to keep them for the time being. I will either take them off or paint them when I put the MP3 bumper on though.

i here ya, but i took the chance...i try amd park away from everyone else so my chances are a bit better!
