Awesome update!!!
Thanks for the commentary as well, I'm always happy to hear that the 20B is not only active in motorsports but that it's being pushed to new levels of power and performance! (2thumbs) Also great to see the drag racing scene so vibrant in Australia...Please keep us updated!
No worries man - I was worried 'serious' rotary contenders had gone dark after PACs accident - the scene seems to have moved away from 20B vs 2JZ in the quest for absolute sport compact dominance (with many of the grizzled 20B warriors turning to the dark side in favour of toyota piston power), to the 2JZ vs VQ35 (which represents the next big thing in terms of sport compact drag racing down here... there were 3 R35 skyline full tube drag cars built in top secret which came out and blew everyones mind recently).
In fact the only people who seemed to be persisting with it were MazFix, who actually built a mazda 6 simillar to PACs first iteration mazda 6 drag car, and it suffered the same fate while doing shake down passes (rolled onto its roof - problem appears to be the prostock chassis being configured for a MUCH heavier engine, and the car getting incredibly loose in the deep end as a result).
But PAC have previously stated they would 'give up drag racing, before they gave up on the 20B', and this new car seems to be very much in keeping with that.
I can't get over how angry the tune up is on it though. Its easilly the most wild turbo 20B i've heard - and whilst they are sticking to their age old power estimate of 1600hp, i wouldn't be surprised if they are playing possom and have it hopped up quite a bit more than that.
Its first 'official' race meet looks to be jamboree in september - i'll be there to see how it goes in competition trim. Doubtful it'll set the world on fire in its first outing, new cars rarely do... but with the rule changes they can unlock fresh potential from the 20B combination - and having finally done the chassis "right" there isn't any reason why their goal to be the fastest sport compact car on the planet, period, can't be realised.
whos coming to australia in september?
