Pac Performance Pro RWD/Pro Turbo Mazda 6 dragster

Woohoo... this thing is now *the worlds fastest* rotary powered vehicle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51foERxaLLw
6.752@201mph - given the low mile for the time (the 2J boys are pulling out 210 to 220mph for only marginally faster times) - this thing has some SERIOUS potential.

watch the vid - rocky was actually slightly disappointed with the run.... said it was untidy...haha...no pleasing some people ;)

Holy Mackerel!...20B Power REPRESENT!!! Awesome vids...I dig the "inside" view of that last vid and it's in HD! (2thumbs)

Love the sound as well...Keep those video updates coming, LordWorm...Great stuff! (rockon)

Ps...Thanks for the PM heads up! :D

makes you wish the mazda 6 really did come with a 20B ;P

no worries about the heads up, any opportunity to show you what a 20B *should* be doing ;)

Time to wake up this thread again - the new sport compact season has started, and heres a look at the mazda 6 at the first round, compak attak.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9DeBY5IKWE

bit off the pace but check out how angry that thing is off the line!

I'll be attending Jamboree this year, which is traditionally where all the sport compact records are broken - so hopefully we'll see this thing nudge a 6.60.....

while we're at it, check out the 6's baby brother....13B powered RX3 sedan...punchin' out some 7's.

Holy hell that thing is fast!

yeah she's no slouch... unfortunately the 2JZ powered ex-titan cars doing the rounds are really hosing them for ET and MPH.... the current national sport compact record sits in the high 6.4's... and i dont know if the Mazda 6 can catch it.....especially since the record holder is resetting his record almost everytime he gets out there.

Still if the mazda 6 can get down the quartermile in 6.60 with 2L of displacement it'll be mighty impressive. It is hitting the 60' and 330' markers quicker than the 2JZ cars, but it just lacks the top end charge to make it all count.

ok a little over a week until the 2010 Jamboree...hoping to see this beast nudge the 6.60's...so its time to bring this old necro thread back to life again.

Heres an interesting video by mazda e-motion TV, Rocky showing step by step what is involved in putting this thing through its paces.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ndzwaiFAUM

video has clips of both the 6 and the MX6 as they recently raced side by side at an event (first time in years Rocky and George have actually competed against each other)

last 15 seconds or so has a close up of both cars popping shoots as they cross the line...good stuff :)

Burnout at 9000rpm... listen to the thing sing in the deep - its got to be revving in the 13k range at full noise...

Holy jesus that thing is fast! Man, that's incredible. And that was a really cool run-through of the entire process that it takes to just make 1 drag run in a car like that. Impressive machine for sure. The launch @ 3:40 is just insane. What a beast :D

Great to see this ol' thread updated with some really juicy news...Thanks for the heads up as well via PM, LordWorm! (2thumbs)

I'm a big fan of Mazda Australia's coverage (http://www.youtube.com/user/zoomzoom) and I hope they will be there to represent and catch some awesome Mazda racing footage!

How's the weather this time of year...Would love to attend the Jamboree if possible someday...:D

Its a bit wet and miserable at the moment - hopefully over the next week it clears up and there are blue skies and cold weather for jamboree.

lots of new cars and rotary combinations that are coming "on song" ... might just have to create a thread for each of them....

E-motion TV is pretty cool, i only recently discovered it...but its got good coverage of some other forms of racing (such as the recent assault on Targa Tasmania in both a MS3 and an RX8 by the factory mazda racing team)...I'll keep an eye on it and post up some goodies as I find them.

And there is always a spare bed and a cold beer in the fridge for my American mazda friends if they want to come visit one august to experience Jamboree ;)

Records broken - on both sides of the world

All it takes is a little bit of healthy international competition....

On the 23rd of October, the PAC Performance Mazda 6 LOST the title of the worlds fastest rotary powered car to the Puerto Rican 20B powered RX7 by Sammy Productions with a 6.701@205mph.

on the 29th of October, the Mazda 6 headed out to western sydney international drag way and after a rather sloppy shakedown pass, managed to pull out a 6.68@mph.

Great to see the competition between Australia and Puerto Rico are alive and well... strong competition will only see the times get quicker and the cars get faster :)

6.589@208mph....
about 1 tenth of being a true threat for the 2JZ's...

INSANE...To see THIS level of competition in the Rotary World (in this day and age) clearly indicates that the Mazda Rotary is still alive & well in the hearts & minds of some really HARDCORE racers...A fact which should inspire us all...ZOOM FREAKIN' ZOOM! (rockon)

Thanks to LordWorm for the updates...Keep 'em coming! (thumb)

are you convinced yet that the true place for a 20B motor is in the beating heart of one of these animals?, and not in a stately cruiser? :P

Pac have recently also done some work with a tarmac rally spec RX8 turbo, which is nowhere near as over the top as this, but shows that the latest breed of rotary motors is still getting love....
