2002 P5
I know the Si has us beat with the hp, but i know we got more tq and our power comes on alot earlier which is what u need in the twisties. anyone have any experience with this, cause my buddy with the Si keeps talking smack and i told him that we need to do some twisties. plus i just ordered some new tires and i know the stockers hold the car back.

If he hasn't done anything to the suspension, I'd put my money on the P5.
what all has he put into the Si, and what do you have in your P5??

I really don't think your tires would hold you backthatmuch. you'd be amazed when it gets twisty what kinda cars a stock P5'll run with... ALot mroe than anythign else it'll likely all come down to who's a better driver, though the new civic suspension is indeed a joke. yay econobox...

Thatsaid if it's a twisty enough road, you should have him pretty well spanked. As far as torque, etc. that helps, yes, but driving skill is everything. if you've got a peaky engine, but can keep it on the boil right, it doesn't matter. I actually have problems with my 5 having to "bog" it down soomuch to get it to play nice. it's weird when you go from absolutely having to stay within 1k of redline to wanting it somewhere around 3-4krpm.

P5 is a much better handling car. i've test driven the Si a few times and wasn't impressed. When i was looking for a new car i tried the civic and p5 on the same stretch of twistie roads and the p5 was way better. you actually know what the p5 is gunna do where the civic is numb, vague and disconnected. the steering felt the same in the si as it did in the regular civic....which i didn't like. with better tires the p5 would rule even more.

If both cars are stock the SI will win.

Sorry.

When driving the twisties, its all about the driver. Learn your cars slip angles and drive it to its full potential, and you will win. Our cars are well balanced. FWD cars suspension are usually set up for under-steer, our cars are not. Good luck

what exactly is a twisty? and the only civic i thought was better than the P5 is the civic sir, i guess im wrong, how much HP does the civic have?

our cars understeer more than not but i will say you can get the tail out. depends on how you take the turn. a fast down hill sweeper will get the tail out if you put in quick steering inputs. whats nice is that our understeer can be easily remedied by letting off the throttle, allowing the front to catch and turn in which then allows for the more throttle input. exit ramps are a blast.

If both are stock. Same Same IMO.
Honda is notorious for skimping on the tires/wheels. 160 HP might make up the difference for cheesy tires, but then again, if I had bought the Si, I'd have to look at it in my driveway every morning.

Seen a few at the racetrack. Had the opportunity to race against one at the racetrack. He had R Compounds while I had my FM901 street tires. Not really a fair fight.

Yes the torque helps keep the P5 balanced better in the turns, and coming out of them, but the Si could potentially pass our P5 once out of the turn given enough room. As we all know the P5 doesn't do well at high RPM acceleration vs. VTEC.

He did pass me but needed the 1/4 mile straight to do it. Plus remember he had R compounds so it wasn't really a fair race.

The Si is pretty good at steady state turns, but in a chicane, I can easily pull out some distance. I also did well under braking too.

I've never driven the Si btw.

the only really nice thing about them is the shifter...very cool position...feels nice. steering feel blows on the Si
