p5 vs. 02 Civic Si in the twisties???

as a former honda owner, i would have to say that the SI would proibably win if the driver doesnt **** up on a corner, other wise the P5 would pass him because of the torque and fairly simmilar handling of the cars

As we all know the P5 doesn't do well at high RPM acceleration vs. VTEC.
and finally someone that can spell it right!!!!(yippy)

LOL! What a coincidence. I get roasted by a 98 Si every morning on the way to school! Which were on a highway, and he accelerates much faster. Just thought I would share!

Those older Si's are a lot better than the 2002+ Si's arn't they? I've been a passenger in my friends 2003 Si and I fear'd for my life when ever he drove on really twisty roads at 50+ mph, cause the car would just have a problem gripping the road and a lot of wheel hops (probably his tires sucked). When we tried to same road and he was the passenger he wasn't fazed at all and notice no wheel hops. But I'm easily scared anyways :-)

I wouldn't mind the Si's though.

If I had the money I'd buy me a 2002+ Si, Focus Zx3 and Zx5. I just love hatches.

Oh I should also say that is was the 7th gen Si with the McPherson front strut suspension that I raced against.

Not the older Double Wishbone models which can easily outhandle our P5 with the right mods.

My friend has an 03 Si, and i can tell you from experience, than they can handle pretty good on twisties....although, i'm sure it all depends on who's driving. The civic has a crazy top-end, but i'm sure in the twisties, it's no good. So i think it would be a good race. And that SI is sooo small, i'm scared that thing is gonna tip all the time. I'm sure the P5 has the better hand on the twisties. Good luck with that, and i'll try my friend out one day. Maybe on Tantalus (Twistie filled spot in hawaii)

I say with equal driver sthe P5 might not have chance in the twisties especially if theres a stretch for passing. The SI's Vtec breaths much better than the P5s FS motor at the higher revs. P5's lowend torque might be a good advantage coming out the turns but thats about it.

SI's are really slow. It only has intake side "vtec." It is not like a B16, it doesn't even have secondary cam profiles. I raced my friend's SI with intake and exhaust and I lose by about a car by the top of 3rd. They are not much faster....at all.
