P5 Tires?

I have a 2003 Black P5 and I'm looking to replace the tires on it. They are just worn and I need an entirely new set. I'm riding on 16 inch rims. So, I'm wondering if anybody could suggestion the right brand for the right price. I'm hoping to not spend over 100 dollars per tire. =)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It all depends on whether you are looking for All-Season tires or something else. I've heard nothing but good things about Bridgestone tires, however, there are a ton of threads on this subject. Try typing P5 tires in the search engine. Good luck!

Last summer I got new Kumho Ecsta 711s. Reasonably priced for all 4 and they solved my tramlining and hydroplaning issues. A little louder than the original Dunlops, but I can live with that.

They were about $450CAD installed and balanced.

These are summer tires.

I bought some Kuhmo SPTs about 2 months ago because I had heard great things about them, and I really like how they feel on the road.

They were slightly over 100$CAD / tire, but it's worth it IMO.

I picked up the SPTs about a month ago and they offer some pretty amazing grip. The Kumho ASXs they replaced were very solid as well, and really cheap at tirerack. They'll be what I switch to for winter.

If you're looking for a little wider tire, 205 series come in a lot of sizes and options, and you can squeeze 215s on for extra traction if you're adventurous.

Yeah, if you can go 205 ratio, and want a good yet affordable performance tire, I have the Pirelli P-Zero Nero (all-season version) and have been happy with them. Very grippy!
They are a little louder than the Dunlops, and I definitely notice the tramlining, but the performance is great.
I've pu tabout 26k on them, and am guessing will get another 15 or so.

I just installed a set of BFG G-Force Super Sport A/S (such a stupid name), after my proxes4's were worn out. So far they're fantastic, as good as the toyos in every regard but have a 400 treadwear and a stiffer sidewall.

$99 @ tirerack in a 205/50/16.

So, general consesous on a good performing summer (year round tire for me) with decent tread life?

I'm currently running a 215x40x17, which I just purchased cheap ( bad move, they suck)

But, will be needing tires on wife's 17's soon

I just put two Yokohama S-Drive's on the front:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=0

Before that there were Falken Ziex 512s on all four wheels. They were not wearing well so when one suffered a nail through the sidewall, and there were no new 512s available to replace it, I changed one pair to the Yokohamas. The S-Drive seems to be a tiny bit louder than the Falkens were, but otherwise the car drives about the same. These are summer tires, but here in LA that pretty much makes them "all season" tires. (I don't remember the last time I drove near, let alone on, snow or ice.)

Also, be sure to read tirerack's full review. The front page for the S-Drive said that it came in third in their most recent tests. However, the best scores were 6.95, 6.94, and 6.93, which to me is really a three way tie.

I've had a set of 205-50/16 Yokohama S.drive's on my '03 for about two months and I'm extremely happy with them. They seem pretty quiet, give a smooth ride and handle very well, but...it's only been a couple of months. I paid $91 per tire from Tirerack before shipping and can vouch for their superior service because I've used them before. On top of all that, they look sweet!

Would ya'll recommended the Falken Series ZE-912 or the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX? I'm just interested in getting a good quality tire, that could possibly be used for sharp corning but nothing serious, just reliable and not too expensive.

I just put yokohama s.drive on my P5 about 2 weeks ago. Well I'm not tire expert but my body does tell me these summer tires does give grips that seem to distort physics. I had Cooper Zeon before(forgot the model), and these are certainly more grippy. They are also quieter.
Now with these summer tires on, i have trouble squealing the tire in a corner, because I would slip around bad on my leather seat before the tire shows any sign of giving up...
I love them, but I also want to try SPT...
Oh, and they look nice on the car too!
and yea, read the tirerack reviews!

BFG G-Force Sport were great tires when I had them. They were great in the rain and handled great too. I now have Yokahama S.Drives. I was happy with the BFG but I read alot about the S.Drives and wanted to try them out. It took a little longer to break the S.Drives in but I think they are friggin' awesome. They also handle great in the rain and even better on dry surfaces. I read they are a step below the Advan series tires which are considered baller status, lol. I am very impressed with the price also, $91 each at tire rack (most excellent service and delivery times). Just make sure you buy some tires soon, I've been hearing tires are to go up come July. Good luck with your decision.

BTW, they are 205-50-16 on stockers dropped on Tokico Blues and Espelir's. NO rubbing. I would go up to 205 for sure.
