P0171 code and San Diego shops

I am trying to install this new Forge WGA, but I can't find a shop that will do it for less than 350 in San Diego... Any tips of good places to go?

I need this quick because my car is throwing a P0171 code and it is preventing me from smogging it... I am pretty sure the source of the code is my leaky WGA. I am maxxing out at about 2psi right now...

Any tips? I left my ramps and jacks up at school, so unless someone knows a way to do this without ramps/jacks/jackstands, I'm pretty sure I will have to go to a shop.

Thanks

just reach in there and do it... no need for jacks/stands or anything as long as you leave the turbo in there

It's not easy to do without pulling the manifold but it can be done, raising the car is helpful but not necessary, the stock jack would work fine. You only have to be underneath when you try to put the E-clip on. I'd give it a shot before dropping $350.

I would check for vacuum leak what causing your P0171 then boost leak since you only holding 2 psi....

I 2nd that. Test your WGA first, it's easy. Attach a long host of the appropriate size to the WGA. Blow into it, if you CAN blow into it then it is bad. If you can't then it's good.

Also just buy a bunch of vacuum lines and T Connectors, while your there replace ALL the vacuum lines you can.

My WGA is definitely bad. I tested that a while back. All my vacuum hoses are new, all IC pipes are solid. I am actually doing the work on the car now. Just trying to figure out how to take off the EGR pipe that connects to the manifold. I am pulling the entire turbo out just because it seemed like less stress in the long run plus its fun haha. Any tips on the EGR pipe on the manifold? Been trying to get that sucker off for the past 30 mins! I don't have a compression wrench.

When I replaced my WGA I didn't remove the manifold or turbo. It was a PITA but it's doable. I removed the engine cover and heat shield on top. And the lower heat shields and the J pipe below.

On the WGA bracket I removed one nut from above and the other below. Using a very long pair of needle nose pliers I removed the E clip from the rod and removed the WGA, had to mangle it to get it out because of the adjustment screw.

From below, I barely had enough room to get my hand in to put the rod onto the wastegate. I then used the very long pair of pliers to align the E clip and had my buddy use a very long screwdriver from above to push it onto the wastegate.
