Overheating MS3

I get my car back today!!! Of course I havn't driven it yet, but they say the thermostat took care of it. So, 11 days for a thermostat, and 7 of those days without any type of loaner or rental. A little discouraging, but it should be all over with now. I can't wait to get out of the hyundai! That car is invisible or something, I've never been cut off so many times as I have this last few days driving that damn thing. I had bad thoughts of not hitting the brakes so many times... I did get the extra insurance on the rental.

Dammit all to hell. The car is fixed.. BUT.. I had a small plastic bag of trash sitting in the back seat, that stuff was ALL over the back seat and under the front seats, my steering wheel cover was all jacked up, and there was a hint of a burnt clutch smell. Not to mention there was just about 100 more miles on the car than when I dropped it off. Oh found some finger tight bolts holding the IC on as well. Damn, just remembered they also didn't clean up some coolant they spilled under the hood. WTF has service come to?

Your fiery rage is justified. Time for a little meeting with the (so called) service manager; this is really unsatisfactory in no uncertain terms.

I don't know.. I'm thinking my I should go straight to the horses mouth on this one and put in a complaint with Mazda. This dealer has shot any faith I have in them all to hell. It may very well be worth the 3 hour drive to Columbus OH to have any more work done. I think I'm going to post in some of the regional sections and see what kind of service I could expect there.

That sucks that they put a 100 miles on yours. I just took my car into my local Mazda stealership for the OBD II recall (reflash). I'm in dayton, OH we dont have a speed dealer I bought mine in cincy but even though the service sucked like at most dealers the work got done and nothing was wrong when I left.

Before I left I did tell them I have the exact miles written down so no joy riding. When I picked it up they put 3 miles on it I guess I can live with that lol!

Still a new owner of the MS3 - for all of one week now. Got back from a leisurely drive of 20 minutes today and when the car pulled into the garage, I shut her off and the radiator fans blew for an additional 10 seconds or so. Glad to read earlier in this thread that this is normal. Someone mentioned this was in the Owner's Manual, too?

my mazda 3 2004 is overheating when sitting in traffic, replaced the thermostat and the cooling fan....still same problem....not sure what it is and mazda is crazy expensive for their bulls***. They first diagnosed the cooling fan, so that is why I replaced it, it is working but maybe not working or coming on when needed...

My car hasn't even so much as acted like was stressing from the heat! I recently drove it from Houston to San Marcos, Tx and it 106 degrees all the way there. She never even flinched.
Now I find this talk of failing thermostats quite worrisome! It'd be nice if they'd fix it to where the t'stat failed in the open position instead of announcing a thermostat failure by roasting your engine!

Having said that...Cheers all!

Are you from Charleston and dealing with Lester Rains? Man I know some stories about that place - I live in Columbus and bought my car from Buyers here - if you take your time there and explain your situation to the service manager there they will probably help you - i've got enough mods to take me past warranty, but they still got me a new turbo when i was just sri, cbe, and bov
