Ordering SNAFU

So my old lease (2001 Jetta GLS) is up today, and I have to turn the car in. So I called my Mazda dealership to find out when my new Mazda 3s would arrive. The guy tells me that my order went in for the car just after their mid-Jan order date. So my order wasn't actually placed until mid-Feb. And since it takes 90 days to order, it may not arrive till early May. (pissed) Luckly, because I ordered the car in manual, it has the dealerships top priority in order so that might speed things up a bit. (must not be a lot of people wanting it in manual).

He asked me if there was any other colors I'd consider for the car because he was going to try and find one on the East coast that matched my packages. I told him that, if he found one that met my exact package options (DVD Navi, 6 CD Changer + Moonroof, TMPS + Xenon Lights, Leather Interior, Sports Package), I might be able to consider either the titanium gray, the winning blue, or the stratto blue. But I really want the Black!

Now I'm just getting way too impatient. The other night there was a show on tv that was sponsered by Mazda. So every damn commercial break they showed the Mazda 3s commerical and all I wanted to do was to go to the mazda dealership and use my trusty key (brick) and satisfy myself with a nice new car. Or two or five.;)

I don't want to wait, I want to drive! (burnout)
Sorry about the length, just needed to vent and I figured that you all might have a better understanding of the desire.(sad2)

Hmmm... nope. Can't relate, sorry. I picked my car up from dealer stock, with exactly what I wanted on it. Took a grand total of 5 days. (shrug)

I did the same except took delivery the same day.

Just saw one at the Louisville New Car Show Yesterday with your spec's in Stratto Blue. Dealer in my town is going to get mine ordered on Monday in Red Mica or Ralley White (with all of the same option's you have listed plus the AT4 Auto Tran's) Sure hope they are not as scarce as you make it sound. The dealer had 3 hatchback's in stock, but all were cloth seat's and no NAV.

BTW, though I read that there was a storage area where the NAV display is located if you don't order the NAV, but the one's I test drove did not have any storage on the dash.

Apparently, in my part of NJ, the cars are rather rare. Before I ordered the car I went looking for them at 3 other dealerships and I only found 4 of them total on the lots.

I was also told that because I wanted the car in manual with all those options, it made it more of a rarity. That much I knew.

As for the storage compartment, I'm not sure either. The car I test drove didn't have the navi or a storage compartment there. I couldn't say for sure. Hopefully some one else on the board can help.

Only extra storage that I know of is the HUGE glove box. I think that is where the brains of the NAV goes. But there is not storage where the NAV screen is.

Exactly. The extra storage is in the back of the glove box where the DVD unit lives.

Heh... I could have if I wanted to. I let it ride for the weekend so I could sell my vehicle instead of taking the trade-in. (thumb)

Hey man. Sorry to hear about your wait, but it should be worth it. I assume you checked out Weisleder, Toms River and Freehold?

Yeah I did. I have a friend that has an 'in' at Schwartz Mazda down in Redbank 'cause he bought 4 Mazda's from them, the last one being a 96 Protege, I think. But a good neighbor of mine is the used car manager at the dealership here in Freehold. He was able to help sweeten the deal for the lease. $299 a month for months and he reduced the paperwork costs.

If I get some time this week, or see him across the street, I'm going to go and talk to him and see if I can ask him to light a fire under the guy's ass who is now in charge of my order. Maybe a little pressure from a manager can bring it in sooner. We'll see. I'll probably update with more info as I find out.

Bummer! The thing that's honkin' up the search for cars already on the East Coast is the NAVI. Not too many of them with it. Best of luck!

Not only that, but the fact that I wanted the car in manual makes it even more of a hard find. But I wanted it that way, so I guess I'll have to wait. No choice really. But I do think that the Navi is key. Both my parents cars have navi and my best-friends does too. It's such a great feature to have and it really helps. A lot. I've used it a ton of times to get out of a lost spot. That and the fact that there is always that possibility to mod it into a dvd player.

But I really, really, really want my car. Anyone want to loan me theirs for a few weeks? (naughty)

Update

So, I went to the dealership over the weekend to talk to them about the status of my order. I tried to do some research of my own on finding one in the NJ area but I was only able to find cars that met my options except leather. So I'm still on the wait.

However, I am apparently the dealerships priority one order and the sales manager even has two other area dealerships searching for him. Hopefully someone will come through....

On a side note, I was in the show room looking at the Mazda 3s 4door and I noticed that the controls for the DVD navigation system had a button that said "voice". Now does that mean that when pressed, the system speaks the current step direction in during guidance, or does it mean that the system accepts voice commands? It's not a big deal either way, but it would be cool to have voice command ability.

Can anyone with the dvd navi system help? Thanks.
