2001 MP3 LASER BLUE MICA
So I figured out my battery is dead... my car is in my parking lot of work and it died completely this morning when i pulled it... and it is my battery cause it will start when i roll the car.. so I am looking at getting a OPTIMA red... but... what one do i get? as for cranking amps. and such?

I think 660 cranking amps are the most you can get for our cars, i mean size wise, but I didnt look too far, good old Canadian tire.

660 does fine, I can start it no problem in -30deg. C.

hmm i wonder if an optima will fit though. i could be wrong. i was gonna get an optima b4 but when me and my dad tried to mount it, we had a few issues wit the clearance or something lol. maybe the mp3 engine bay is configured a different way. haha idk just was wondering xD make sure that it fits cause the shape of it is weird hehe.

I think all I'll need to do it raise the battery. Could be wrong. I have done some researching on the forums. and people have just used the extender or custom. but I saw nothing on the cranking amps

hehe i see. maybe one day i'll do that mod so i can get an optima too. those things are awesome.

hmm i just went outside to see how many my battery is. it says 550CCA. and according to the sears people its already heavy duty? lol maybe its cause our climates vary differently? hehe that 910 thing seems really far off from 550 and the 660 some1 recommended. ya sure u said for a car? lol i think trucks and cars differ alot

I told him 2001 Mazda MP3. and he said 910 and I was like... wth.. are you sure.. and he said yes. then i called Advanced Auto and they told me 700 something... Might go with the 700.. lol

i have the optima yellow top. if you get an optima battery, you will need to get a custom tie down from ebay or make your own

The amount of cranking amps should not hurt your car. I was just saying if I dont need more then 660 for the weather we have here then that should be fine. If you have a few extra bucks dont worry about it, buy whatever they give you haha!

We use to run 1100 CCA in my dad's old ford.

You will have to modify the tray...

oh ok. My mom told me she will buy me one from sears for now (cool) So I'll go with a free battery for alil while.

i have the optima red top and it came with a battery tray spacer. it raises the new one up and it snaps into place on the bottom of the optima battery. the factory tie down works too. i have it on mine. at first it seems like it wont work, but just need to adjust the rod and screw to get the right fit.

but then again, a free battery is good too.lol

awesome xD so it was covered under their warranty? haha ya had a sears battery from the beginning? lol
