oppinions on a spicy?

hey guys, as you know I'm planning on selling my spicy at the moment cause I'm too hungry for power with it....I'm at a juncture in the road where I can either finish it and put out the power I WANT to get, which would not be reliable to daily drive at that power level (reliability is a term that varies from person to person, and reliable for me is pretty strict), or to get a stock motor and throw it in there to sell the car....then put my motor into a full time track-only car at a later time when I have better funding

I won't drive the car around at stock power levels as a daily because I've spent too much money and too much time to get power out of this car (I've been told I'm quite stubborn lol) to just give up...so if I keep the car it's going to have the power I want out of it

ANYWAYS, that's besides the point of this thread....I'm asking an oppinion here about what I should do to sell the car

on the one hand I can put her back to stock and sell her for a higher price (likely), but the cost to put the car back to stock is going to be higher than if I were to to the other route

the other route is that I rebuild this motor and sell it with the built motor, built transmission, and full t3/t4 kit, standalone, the works....but I'd obviously not get top dollar for the car with all of that and not many people local to me would buy a car which is un-smogable in california

the trade-off in cost to fix and cost to sell isn't huge between the two, to put her back to stock will cost me between $1500-$2000 and to rebuild this motor to put out the power levels I want will cost me about $1000 (but I won't get top dollar for the car)

so I want your oppinion....would you finish the car and clean your hands of it? or would you put it back to stock to finish the project at a later date?

either way I go I am GOING to finish my project, I quit on too many projects but I've invested too much into this one to finish....when I sell the car if I finish the project I'll obviously detune it some to be reliable for the new owner, but personally I have too much of a thirst for horsepower when it is so easily attainable

you know i could drive down and we could trade motors and trannys haha were both happy then, im built your stock win win situation haha

believe it or not, I would highly consider that as an option if there were a cash incentive lol

well, let me preface that by noting what all we'd be swapping:
built block (pauter rods, cp pistons, 9:1 compression)
built transmission (cryo treated gears, quaife LSD)
custom t3/t4 kit (steedspeed manifold, t3/t4, modified corksport downpipe, turbolife FMIC, 550cc injectors, etc...)
microtech standalone EMS

I would need enough cash to rebuild the motor, plus cash to recoup the fact that you are receiving much more lol

I'd say if I were to sell it with a trade that I wouldn't let it all go for less than 2600...

well the only way I'd go that route anyways is if I could get the money up front so I can fix the motor first lol, but yea

lol, you can always have it shipped...

but even still, before my thread gets closed since this isn't a for sale thread, lets go back on topic haha

if you're interested in talking about it though shoot me a pm

Well that is a very tough decision. But I would think going back to stock would be your best bet considering you do have to deal with smog testing. Not sure how many people would want a car that really isn't street legal. Do you have any of the stock parts still or is that something you'd have to go searching for? If you rebuild it and then sell it won't he cost be higher for you to start all over on another project car? (track-only car)

yea if I rebuild it then the project car would be out of the question, I either finish this build and THEN sell it or I go back to stock and do the project at a later time in a track car, but yea I totally agree with your point on the smog testing issue

lol, see the delimma?

what is it that makes your car fail the smog test? catless exhaust?

ahem. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't sell your beautiful spicy!
