I am looking to get some lowering springs for my msp here in the very near future. I am wanting to get some opinions from people who have aftermarket lowering springs already.

1 What brand do you have?

2.And what is your opinion on ride quality and the drop?

1. Goldlines on stock MSP struts

2. The ride quality is like stock. Handling is almost the same but with transition turns, it seems to be not as good as stock. And for the drop, the drop is good. The gap in the front is flush with the tires and the rear is a finger to a finger and a half.

If you want a nice drop, Goldines would be your choice. But if you want something that handles better, I would get either Tein S-Tech's or Espelir's.

Since I've had two setups, I guess I'll comment on both.

1. Tein S-Tech springs on stock struts.

2. I wasn't such a fan of the drop, because it left the ass-end flying high. You could fit a finger between the tire/well in front, but over two fingers in the rear. But I thought the drop in the front was perfect. The ride was very similar to stock, perhaps a shade stiffer, but not much. My view of these springs is a little skewed though, because I also put on my 18" wheels with the 35 series tires at the same time. So.

1. Ground Control coilovers on Tokico Illumina struts.

2. I absolutely love the drop, but of course, that's adjustable to your particular preference. The ride? One word -- OUCH. Between my low-profile tires and the stiffness of the suspension setup, I want to cry going over rough roads. I've actually been bucked right out of the seat more than a few times. However, the handling is fantastic. Between the performance tires and the coilovers, I can rip around turns like there's no tomorrow! So it's a trade-off, of course -- handling and drop is great, but it's nothing remotely resembling a smooth, comfortable ride.

Hey Rush, since you said the ride was a tad bit stiffer then stock, how was the handling with the S-Tech's? I might be purchasing some from a member and sticking the aftermarket Tokico HP's on them.

^^^ From what I remember, I didn't notice any particular improvement or decline in handling. To tell you the truth, I only noticed that the ride was a little stiffer, and of course the height was changed. They didn't strike me as any 'OMG!' difference from the factory setup.

So anyone have any input on the Espelir's?

Tien S techs are like 1.8" in the front and 1.5" in the back????
What are the goldlines?

I just read that the tein S techs are 2.0" front and 1.4" rear on a 4 door sedan protege.

So now I am being lazy. Anyone know the stock msp spring rate?

1. Espelir springs

2. Awesome! Lower just enough. Not too low where you scrape everything (due to Euro restrictions on ride height), doesn't bottom out with passengers, and handling is about equal, maybe a tad better than stock.

I also changed to 18's, but I was running stock springs first, and these made a dramatic improvement with the car being a bit higher, since I put 18's on.

1. falken factory tuned springs

2. ride quality is like stock for the most part, but rougher on bad roads. the drop on these is perfect imo, even all around.

and plus theyre a lot cheaper
