eh, like everybody else said, they are taking you for a ride.
i mean come on, she can't legally tell you why she thinks it's your fault? That's the biggest load of s*** i've ever heard lol and then they said they would help pay if you don't take it to insurance? DO IT DO IT DO IT, i mean, they probably don't like you already so that wouldnt change anything
hell, my gf and i got into an accident last witner, i was driving her car, hit the brakes on the highway, no abs so all 4 wheels locked, did a 180 and ran into the middle of the highway backwards, the car flipped on the side.
5k in damages (bumpers, fenders, 2 doors, rear suspension, exhaust, wheel, trunk, hood, paint, etc) and they took it to their insurance because i didn't have the clause that protects me while driving other people's car so basically, if something happens, it's the car owner's insurance that takes care of it. All her dad asked me was to call my insurance and ask if i was covered for other people's car, i told him i wasn't and he said ok i'll fix it with my insurance ... all taken care of in about 8 days. the car was fixed, back on the road, her parents never mentionned it again. they are not rich or anything, just really REALLY cool parents i guess. my insurance didn't go up even though i have a accident in my profile with the saaq (dmv in this province), but i didn't claim anything either so ...

So what ever happened with this? My ex's mom hates my guts and it eventually got to her so we broke up but I still rail her every day at lunch (sssh) we just keep it a secret even though she has been forbidden to be in the same public place as me. (hump) my bad

Turn it over to your insurance company. Have them investigate the accident. Did your gf apologize for the incident or only tried to shift blame? She needs to take responsibility for her actions and so do her parents if her car is registered in their name. Good luck.
