Oh god, i am retarted.
So i just got my RP and was going to take it to a local muffler shop and have it done. I kept hearing that it was easy so my friends and i took it upon ourselves to save me some install money. So first we start and jack up the car. Then, it took us like 3 hours to get the bolts from the CBE and 2nd cat to come loose. Finally we did it, and got the RP in, but I think its a janky-ass job. So as we are taking it off the jacks, my friend lets it down and one of the jacks puts a fat ass dent on the underside of my car, right at the passenger side carpet. So i was freaking the **** out...and then we hammered that back in, and it looks back to normal. Im def. gonna have that checked out cause im scared as ****. So then as I take it out to drive it, yeah it sounds sick, but after i got on it a little, a horrendous smell...like exhaust-duh was hovering around in my interior. So now i think I have an exhaust leak. I AM RETARTED. WHAT WAS I THINKING?? Well anyways I had to vent somewhere, but I am for sure taking to the exhaust place ASAP...and I just wont drive it until when I can take it in. Someone please console me that I didnt **** the s*** out of my baby...

How in the hell did you dent your car again and where exactly? The factory locktight crap can be a b**** to break loose! I still don't see whats so bad about installign a race pipe.

Edit: BTW you're goign to smell the exhuast pretty good with no cat. Its just one of the trade offs.

Ok, so I had the Jack stand underneath the passenger side front seat, like right near the corner of the carpet by the edge of the car.(not the inside of the carpet.) anyways, so we had the jack in a bad spot I guess, and as we were lowering it, my buddy dropped it a tad too fast, and it dented the sheetmetal. So i had my nieghbor, who knows a shat load about cars come help us out. He told just to bang it in with a mallet, and it worked...looks back to normal, but Im still gonna get it checked out.

And with the exhaust smell, it was only when I got on her a little, but i lingered for a while with the windows down and everything. I'm also probably the worst mechanic ever so it wasnt a great idea that i did it anyways. Im still taking my car into the muffler shop ASAP just to make sure, and i dont give a s*** about what it costs.

yeah, Mazda tqs the s*** out of those bolts.

one of the bolts are still sitting in my stock midpipe, b/c i just couldnt get it out. even with an impact gun. it took me forever to get my tp in as well b/c of those dumb as stock bolts as well

and there woont be a smell from the exhaust by deletingthe 2nd cat. you will get exhaust fumes once you get rid of the stock DP for a uncatted one though

I forget the ms3 has a cat in the down pipe. however mazda uses some pretty good lock tight s*** at the plant. I have broke a snap-on socket breaking a nut loose on my old p5. Thank god for cheater bars.

so... you jacked it up in the wrong spot their for causing a dent large enough to require a hammer to pound out?

exactly, except I was shitting my pants because I'm suuuuuuuper anul about my car, so this just freaked me out. Fortunately, the jack didnt break through the floor.

well we kind of rushed one of the jacks...the one that dented it, but i think it was a blindly retarted mistake

Don't be angry as you being "cheap" man. Take it as a lesson learned and to take your time as well as pay attention to detail.

oh yeah i would say the only good that came out of this is that I learned a lesson never to rush through things that are incredibly important, and potentially dangerous. I'm just glad no one was under the car

I guess you figured out where to place jacks on your car now. Even though you "pounded" it back out I would have it checked out, to make sure it's only cosmetic and not structural. Point being you learned a lesson the hard way, at least no one was hurt. This is for everyone with little to no experience modifying your car (I see a lot of these threads of people breaking parts on their cars due to lack of some basic kmowledge) you need to take great care in doing some research and if you don't feel qualified to do something take it to a pro. Mechanics make $100/hour for a reason, they know what they're doing, or at least they're supposed to. Good luck hope the car is OK...

oh yeah for sure i will never drive a car that would be structurally unsafe..but i have to say it does sound mean. ANd is that strong smell normal?

I know that when I had my DP/RP set up you definitely could smell the fumes. Never just ran the RP only, it does eliminate a cat so not as clean but it seems like a lot of people that run just the RP don't seem to complain too much. Check for leaks, fairly easy to do...http://www.ehow.com/how_2192130_find-car-exhaust-leak.html if your unsure take it to a muffler/exhaust shop...

I think its mostly that it was a new part. I took it out again today, and almost no smell at all
