Last night I read the article in SCC that they did on the EVO VII (that's a mitsubishi lancer)...and compared it to their tweaked out WRX. The EVO VII beat the pants off of their tweaked WRX in...everything. Oh yeah, and it got like 72MPH in the slalom. That kills our mp3s. Watch out for the EVO on the track, fellas...it's gonna be a monster.

Yeh true, but the one we get is going to be seriously watered down. The one SCC tested is a Euro version of the car.....so it retains all the go fast goodies and electronic gizmos to keep it glued to the road. So naturally it is going to kick the 'tweaked'WRX in the behind on all grounds. But as far as what we will get.......that is going to be a far cry from the real thing....which is typical for us...when we get imports....We get shafted every time due to emissions and safety legalities. Oh well that is what the aftermarket is for....but sure wish we could get all the goods stock. Like our car.... :D

yah...the lancer will beat the pants off a normal wrx...but the lancer was really never meant to compete with the normal wrx....it was built to compete with the STi...then the playing field is slightly more even...

Not so sure about that tho...the SCC crew had actually souped up there WRX to the point they figured it was pretty close in performance/handling to an STi....but like said previously we will be getting the detuned Lancer EVO anyhow.

I've always loved the rivalry between these 2. I remember reading about these 2 for about the past 3-4 years in the UK mags EVO and CAR. The EVO seems to have kept its balls out style. In the past the EVO was refered to as "a mans car". Where as the STI was considered to have a bit more refinement to it. The EVO has always had the "hot knife through butter on a race track" type of handling. The STI was always more of a tossable side ways drivers car, hence the rally car history.

I do agree that we probably won't get the hopped up version of the EVO. It will probably reach our shores without all the active differentials and large rear wing, which means it won't be a precise as the UK & Japanese spec EVO's without the diffs. But, it will still be a great deal of fun to drive.

If the STi is to make it to our shore, it will hopefully remain untouched and probably will be sold in limited production. Or so one would think it would be limited. Who knows though, only time will tell.:)

A few months back, I was also reading the SCC (that,or car and driver, forgot) about their first preview of the EVo7 and they noted that the US version of the EVO7 (that was supposed to be here 2003), was going to have 250hp (30 less than the overseas version). I don't recall antyhing about the diff, but, possibly it's still there because I recall them raving about how cool it was.

I doubt they'd leave out the huge spoiler either, Mitsubishi has to cosmeticallydifferentiate the regular lancer and the lanevo with SOMETHING. And considering how subtle the front looks now compared to the Evo4/5/6, i think they better keep the big wing to make it look more aggressive.

Damn, I love the Evo7!!! I drool whenever I see a picture of it :) But nothing tops the looks of the Evo3 imo.

Yeah, the Evo VII is a bit ugly (just a tad), but it's a great car.
