oranized religion is not the way to go!

:) peopole in oranized religion in leadership postions get corrupt by power and make all these stupid rules or things you have to do, and they say god wants you to wear that crazy underwear or perform the weird ceremonies.

Some of you are going to walk outside today and you'll feel the wind blowing through your hair or hear it in the trees. You can't see the wind, but you know it's there because you see the effects of it.

Except that you can scientifically prove the existence of air and the fact that it moves under certain atmospheric conditions to create wind.

In the eyes of God, yes. Glad to hear someone else has the same opinion. Hey man, maybe you and I can have a Protege meet in hell one day! I'm thinkin we should have a barbeque, have some hot girls over and just make an eternity of it!

look into the light and open your arms to be seated at the right hand of a huge pile of dirt. Its scary to think that it just all ends once we die. Unfortunatly thats prolly what happens. My man lowj makes the same intelligent point as i a few posts ago. Preach on brother.

801. now thats a very intelligent post. I can agree with 98% of that post and the idea's behind it. I agree that there is a strong posibility that their is or could be a creator. Its just the beginning that always gets me. Even with evolution where is the beginning how did the primordial soup start. ahhh.

It's totally frustrating, pure creation seems too idealistic yet there's way too much order in nature to believe it all happened by chance. I think that evolution and belief in God can work together though.
A creator existing outside the confines of our perceived reality can set in motion the events that would spark life in the primordial ooze.

Maybe that's easy for me to believe because it simplifies everything, but it seems to make sense to me. I mean there's a process for everything from the birth of stars to the decay of roadkill...so maybe evolution is the method God chose for us. That's the explanation I'm most comfortable with, but I'm willing to listen to opposing ideas.

ok, were are actually derived from aliens or visitors from another planet that visited the earth 1000's of years ago, or maybe they even crashed here.

If you believe in God, why not that?

I'm calling E.T. right now using 10-10-220 to see if he can answer that question...hold one sec....Nope! E.T. says it's a definite no. Aliens only created the confusion about creation. So there are other things at work here...perhaps a govt. conspiracy? An underground movement by the Catholic church to conduct hostile takoevers of the other religions? We'll see...

I think it is funny that all of the people who quoted my earlier post some how think that they know me and what I'm saying. Not once did I mention a God, or a Creator or any type of religious group, but yet you have all quoted me as if I stated that I was a part of a Western Religious believe system with only one point of view and that if you do not share my point of view (non of you do) you are all going to Hell and that you and all of your children are going to be useless.

That is exactly why you have to take religion, ALL religions on FAITH. The people on this board believe in their respective religions because THEY believe their religion to be the correct one. And that is all they need. They do not need God or the Creator to come down out of the sky and say "hey look, this is how it all happened."

They have already made that jumped based on faith; this does not make them, nor their respective religions bulls***.

Quoted by newf:
This is just Just typical of someone's religion shaping their opinions on others.

Get over yourself newf.

You need to change the title of this thread.

For those who belive, please explain this bumper sticker.

God gave up his son to save you.

Where did he go? Hell?

Please Explain.

I think that this says it best:

"There are two techniques that every man and woman needs to live life. One is the technique of volition, of trying hard, putting your back into it and doing your best. That's output . . . The other is the philosophy of intake, of spiritual hospitality, of the receptivity of the soul to the oversoul, of the open door that lets the highest in. That's intake. One is like the branches of a tree, spreading out. The other is like roots, digging in. Multitudes of people in our modern world are using on the first technique. They are trying hard, and then someday, inevitably, like everybody else, they run into an experience that they can't handle simply by trying hard - a great grief, for example. Try hard? You need intake, too. You need sustenance, you need invigoration from beyond yourself."

Quoted by Harry Emerson Fosdick.

Or, if you like:

"Whatever you are, be a good one."

Quoted by Abraham Lincoln.

Why do I need to get over myself? I wasn't the one who basically called all non-religous people non-intelligent and bla bla bla

I just post your comment here one more time as it speaks for itself.

I think that religion is a needed backbone that helps to produce a productive, self aware, intelligent full individual. It gives one feeling of self and meaning of self

Those who lack religion ultimatly will lack the basic building blocks that are vital to a full life and the meanings that are found within that life. .

I also stated, you can have your belief in whatever you want, I don't care, I'm not going to think of anyone any less or more due to their relgious status. By this statement above...you clearly don't think the same way

Correct, for the most part. I truley belief that if you do not have some sort of religious believes that there is a hole in your life. You might not notice it now, or even care about it, but it is there and one day you will feel its emptiness. Simple as that. But, like I stated in my post, it "helps," thus, it is not one hundred percent needed but I think that it should be highly recommended.

I do not think that you "find" religion. I think that religion "finds" you. Once people find something to believe in; be it by faith or facts, one will feel good about ones belief system, thus increasing that persons awarness of life and self in an enriched form.

interesting, there seems to be more atheists than i ever imagined or expected. i was under impression that a lot of people in the US are religious fanatics but that's not the case. nice to see that most people whether they believe or not, use their brains rather than just being brainwashed or following blindly.

Intelligence breeds atheists, and idiots can't use computers and buy SUV's (hence they are on the look at my big truck I drive around alone everyday forum). I'm not too surprised.

Edit: Before I hear all about it, note I said it breeds atheists not the religious people are total morons (except for Presbyterian's, you guys really piss me off :)).

Well guys, I'll have to say that I'm sorry for all of this. I started the other thread "Christians" and I think that some people made side threads about the subject, hence this thread. Sorry for the mess guys...

What are you sorry about? Your original thread, this one and the other spin-offs are the most stimulating conversations that have gone on here for a long time. You should be proud.(2thumbs)

religious fanatics? hardly. the united states is the most religious country in the world not because of its hardline ultra orthodox, ultra conservative, ultra intolerant sects of religions, but rather, because of the freedom for people to believe however they want in whomever they want. 90% of americans believe in some higher power. that might mean the christian god, the muslim god, the jewish g_d, shiva, vishnu, native american spirits or even something like the buddhist notion of nirvana. most people are not atheist but rather they are agnostic. they believe there's something there. what, they don't know, don't care to know perhaps, or it doesn't matter.

i'm sure that even pingdum isn't TOTALLY atheist. he's just against organized religion.
