OK. Replaced alternator. BUT....

now the idle rpm are higher than before..~900 as opposed to 750. Everything was reset on the installed entertainment system so I am assuming the battery was disconnected (maybe that has to be done I don't know)

Also coming to a parking lot and slowing down to a crawl the rpms dropped almost to a stall. This has happened twice.

I just picked the car up so I don't know if some weird things happen right after an alternator/belt replacement. Is it just the computer re-learning stuff?

I coulnd't talk with the guy that did the work but they said they always check voltage, etc and wouldn't give it back if it wasn't correct.

On the plus side, the noise is gone!

Any thoughts on the stuff above? Should I give it a few days?

Thanks,
Dave

Most likely the computer re-learning stuff. I had similar issues after rebuilding my intake. This happens when you remove the battery and reconnect it later, it resets the ECUs memory (or the one that stored the learning procedure). Any kind of work done on the electrical system should have the Battery removed, the service manual states that as the first step for half the things to do with repairing the car.

yes give it about 75 to 150 miles and it should return to normal when the battery is disconnected for extended periods of time (15 minutes+) it drains the ecu memory and it has to relearn the car and reread all the sensors and get a reading on them over a set period of time, if it continues after a few days or the mileage i said above have it looked at, they may have messed something up

So far no more stalling threats. Idle rpm EVENTUALLY goes back to 750 but it is a bit shaky...stays at 900..then drops too far...then at 750.

I parked the car after picking it up yesterday and after about an hour I went back out and there was literally a jug of water underneath the car. I didn't even have the AC on. I'm assuming there was a clog and the condensation wasn't draining properly from the AC for a while? It seems ok now. It was just water - no coolant and the water didn't feel slick or anything.

BUT I did see some coolant in the engine bay, just under the right side of the radiator! UGH. I cleaned it up and let the thing idle for a good ten minutes after driving it on the highway and city for about 20 minutes...couldn't get it to leak again. I'm hoping they for whatever reason took the rad cap off or something like that which caused the drips. There wasn't alot - maybe about 10ml.

Is it possible to have intermittent coolant leaks? If a hose leaked, that would just spray out I assume? If the RAD leaked, wouldn't it be all the time?

It probably just stayed there for a LONG time from the last time something was done to your cooling system. I remember my co worker got into a slight fender bender and there was a ton of ATF on the floor. We thought a line was busted, turned out to be a bunch of coolant that sprayed from a previous repair collected in the bumper and came out when the bumper broke in the collision.

Just keep an eye on the coolant level in the radiator and you should be good.

Oh I will, but I know coolant dries kind of white and it really doesn't take that long to do so - especially small amounts. This was fresh fluid. BUt like I said, haven't seen it since so fingers crossed :)
