Ohio and front license plates

Are there lots of Ohio cops pulling people over for no front plates? I have out of state plates for now (no fronts), and it seems like the cops don't even really look for it after living here for 7 months, but i could be completely wrong..so question is, when I switch to Ohio plates, do you recommend putting on front plates or do most ppl get away with it?

I have one on the front, but I asked the other guys from Ohio without one, and word of mouth is that it's not a primary offense (you won't get pulled over for it), but if you do get pulled over, they'll also get your for that, in addition to whatever you got pulled over for. I think it's like a repair order, or whatever, you just have to put the plate on, and then go to the courthouse or whatever, and they'll ok it.

^This.

If they want to have a reason to pull you over, they can use that as their just cause.
Typically they don't bother you about it since it isn't harming anything but if the cop does want to push the issue, he absolutely can give you a ticket for it.

I've had a front plate on all my cars because a cop has caught me without one once or twice but was never ticketed. My current Probe doesn't have one since it was a kentucky car and doesn't have a front plate bracket. I've never been bothered about it after owning the car for almost 5 years.

I don't run a front plate on my 8, nor have I even had a bracket for it. I've been pulled over once and let off with nothing other than a "Get your plate on the car." A lot of it depends on where you live as well. If you're in a border town, you're more likely to get away with it since Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania do not require front plates. Seeing cars without a front plate is more common. In Central Ohio, you may get more flack. Unless I'm threatened with a loss of license, or the car, I will not put a plate on. The fine is $70 I think, and it is not a moving violation, therefor effects nothing.

I don't have one on my speed3 or rx7. I was pulled over in Brooklyn once by the chief of police for not having a front plate and he wrote me a ticket and said that I had to put the plate on the car and bring it back to the staition that the ticket would be voided. So I putthe plate on the car and the officer at the desk came out to see it, said something about the chief when he saw who wrote the ticket and laught, he voided the ticket and let me go. I then went home and removed it from my car. It was on my old miata btw and I think they look stupid with a front plate.

most people get away with it, you can always have it under your seat and throw it on the dash if you get pulled over and say the bracket has come in to be installed. I have one on cause that's how my car came and the holes in the bumper are worse than no plate.

I'm probably going to take mine off, I made the mistake of buying a front bracket. The car was from Indiana so it didn't have one with it. I got really pissed off since when I put the front bracket on, it made 2 holes from the screws. I installed it 1 week before I found the Tow Plate!!! lol

I do not have a front plate on my car. I was pulled over for it once, well that was his excuse anyway. I was leaving a golf course that I play in a league at as he went by, I just knew he would turn around. He did of course. I am not sure if he could get any closer to me if he were in the car with me but he was trying to smell for alcohol. Little did he know I do not drink when I play golf cause I play worse than normal. lol! Anyway he let me go and said to get the plate installed. That was last summer and still no plate. I have decided to tell them next time "I have it at home and will put it on this weekend". When I get a ticket I will put it on!

Haha. thanks for the advice and awesome stories..i guess its still just a 'until i get a ticket' kinda deal..i've already gotten one back in my home state and $70, yea not much but...its too much for a plate haha..i guess PG or Cp-E tow is the way to go soon

Call me funny but, tow plates just look weird. The front end is symetrical so the front plate (if you are gonna run one) should be in the middle, unless you have two plates. Like headlights, they are on both sides not one in the middle and one on the side. Kinda hard to explain myself here ya know.

I have only been pulled over once in 11 years of driving with no front plate and he just warmed me that staties would ticket me if they pulled me over. That was in Akron. Over hear in Toledo it is just a slap on if they remember it's not there.

I agree, tow plate on 3/speeds do look weird. IMO only thing they look good on are Evo's. =P

Really? I get a lot of compliments on mine at work. I think it looks awesome on my car. Besides, would you rather have something like a tow plate, or holes in your bumper??

Neither! Cause I live in KY! hehe.
but.. back when I use to live in the DC Metro Area.. I actually folded the top part and bottom part of my front License plate and zip tied them to my bottom grill.

I'm from PA, so I miss having only one plate. :(

I would rather not have either. No holes no plate! It would be different if the front bumper was made to have a plate like the rear and actually fit into the body instead of just hang from it.
