Official 'Smoking Turbo' response from Mazda

North Hill Mazda! Ryan, the service manager was pretty cool about it. Once he saw the smoke coming out after idling he said "holy s***, it's a chimney"! I couldn't help but laugh. I had all my service records to prove my maintenance and they did it without any questions. I dropped my car off on the 16th of June, I picked it up 10 days or so after. Good luck!

Exactly, some dealers are saying that it is not covered in power train. I don't see why not though.

Well I am going to finally break down and take my intake/tip off and put the stock parts back on and take mine in..

It is getting progressively worse as the idle time before smoke starts has dropped significantly. I really dread taking off my parts to put it back to stock. I wish that dealerships weren't so anal about voiding warranties.

lol, your complaining about pulling off just an intake, its not quite that easy for some of us

Oh I know some of you guys have tons more mods than I do.. I'm just expressing my hatred of having to take off 2 simple parts so they don't bend me over and screw me sideways..

Appointment is at 9am Friday though. So I shall see what they say. My biggest fear is getting down there and the damn thing not smoking like it has everyday for the past month.

so im running 10w-40 in my car right now from royal purple and just installed a catch can with a second pcv valve. Right now it is smoking like crazy but i'm hoping it's just from the left over that was in the turbo i'm gonna wait a week and see if the catch can helps with the smoking. Before i had raised my idle to 900rpm and would never see smoke but i reflashed my car and im back to stock idle. has anyone installed a catch can and seen an improvement?

The guy from SM told me not to install an additional PCV. I just got my kit, not installed yet. The 5-40 Rotella stops it till it has some miles on it and then it will seap through. Lets me know when it's time for an oil change for sure.

Just got my oil changed on an 07, and noticed the smoke at idle. Only have 30k miles- I guess I need to put it back to 5w 40
Looking fwd to the outcome of this thing from Mazda

There won't be a final outcome.. Other than one of two things.. 1 you have a warranty and get replaced or 2 you don't have a warranty and your just out of luck.

Mazda isn't going to do anything. Use 5-40 and get an OCC w/additional PCV or catch valve system. If you have an AP turn your idle up to 900 or so. When these are done, no one complains about smoke. Change your oil often, 4k prob.

I'm curious to see what they tell me tomorrow when I take my car down to the dealership. I made sure that b**** was smoking yesterday after I put all my stock parts back on the car. I'm going to make it smoke all day today just so it will do it tomorrow when I get down there..

mine smoked like all hell, dealer claimed they couldnt replicate it.

i sent them a video of it smoking in my driveway

they told me it had to smoke in front of them

brought it back a 2nd time, it smoked, they switched to 5w40

it still smokes on occasion, but of course every time i bring it there it doesnt

mazda isnt doing s*** about this

I've already switched to the 5w40 synthetic and can prove that, so hopefully if it smokes they will do something about it..
