Official Perrin Thread

I appreciate the info. I was just wondering if you ever fixed the FMIC centering problems. I have yet to recieve mine because i heard that Perrin was fixing a couple of things...

Yes the centering issue was easily solved. Simple production problem....just drilled the holes in the wrong spot. Completely corrected and ready to go. As for "other problems" I don't think I am aware of them.... let me what your other concerns may be.

Have you guys gotten the improved SRI design out yet? Mine's taking up space in my garage.

The problem with the intakes was not a design problem.....it was an assembly problem. The guys in the warehouse just assembled them incorrectly. We were under the belief that every customer who received a misassembled intake had been taken care of. If you have a problem please do not hesitate to give our technical staff. I believe they will have to send you one piece and will gladly walk you through the installation. This goes for anyonePlease do not hesitate to call us if you have any question or concerns. As soon as the new website launches you will be able to engage an instant chat with our sales staff from any page on our web site. We are here to help.

The problem actually is a design flaw. I've talked with your tech folks both by phone and email several times. They are supposed to be altering the design of the intake tube, to make it longer (its too short- the MAF is too close to the BPV nipple, even with the elbow blowing away from it) and to aim the BPV away from the MAF. I hope it is ready soon.

im having no issues with the intake. maybe its cuz i have the BPV and BOV setup.
I think this is exactly it. The BPV/BOV setup logically should result in less turbulence & pressure in the intake tube, making the MAF less likely to freak out and cause a stall.

I'm using the stock BPV and not venting. Problem appears to be that the intake tube on the Perrin SRI is too short. Although their design uses the plastic elbow to vent away from the MAF, I think when the BPV activates, it overflows the intake tube and pushes air back up past the MAF, freaking it out.

Either that, or the intake tube leaks at the plastic elbow, effectively causing me to vent partly to the aptmosphere- only other thing I could think of.

Everyone I've seen so far that is running the Perrin SRI without problems is much more heavily modded than me (I'm otherwise stock), which changes the equation quite a bit.

Anyone out there running an otherwise stock MSP with the Perrin?

Why not then use a Forge BOV? Most people report no stalling with this dual-piston valve...
At first, my stalling was very rare, but as I had it longer, it began to happen all of the time. I gave it to my friend & I'm getting the GReddy Type S with my Perrin FMIC. Cullen told me that the BPV nipple is getting changed from 19mm to 34mm, so I am currently trying to find out which BPV to use for my dual valve setup.

Hmmm..... I still don't have any problems with my BOV.... no stalling or whatever but I'm still pretty near stock too

The BPV nipple is now 1 3/8 instead of 3/4 inch. This allows for a aftermarket BPV to be used. The kit will come with a silicone reducer hose so you can use the stock BPV still.

Another alternative would be to put the MAF on the pressure side, that would eliminate completly any stalling issues. But, that's another story...

I thought that causes a problem with the MAF sampling tube/wire. cause of the boost pressure?

I know CustomMSP is running the MAF on the pressure side, and he has said he's had no issues so far. Also, he noted better throttle response, plus you can run a BOV open vent without any issues. He'd be one to talk to though, if you want more info. I'm not running mine that way, but it does sound nice.

Yes, The front mount kits now include a larger bung welded to the charge pipe. The kit will include a small, custom silicone reducer to still allow the use of the stock by pass valve. All of the new boost tubes are finished but we are still waiting for our shipment of these reducers. Should be this week.
If anyone has an intercooler kit on order and is not going to use the stock by pass valve, you can have your kit ship today.

Thank you again for all the input .

P.S.
The new web site is up (headbang) and running featuring our Mazdaspeed products.
I know it has been a long time but it is finally here.

I plan on ordering your oil catch can, crank pulley, & adjustable SS soon. The new site is great...can't wait to see the new parts that are listed as in development. (2thumbs)
