Official 2009 USDM Mazda6 thread

That thing must have a extremely large blind spot for that feature.

I was thinking the same thing after he said it.

Steve can you elaborate more?

What exactly is the BSM system? is it a video camera or something that shows you an image of your blind spots?

Also did you notice on this car or the blue one, if the right side view mirror crooked down like in the Acura TL and the BMWs do, when you put it in reverse?

I just noted that the doors don't have the side wide door ding protection stripes (or whatever they are called), like they used to be on the 1st gen ones (except the MAZDASPEED6). The car lines look a little bit cleaner that way

I wonder if the BSM is something they borrowed from Volvo, or if they actually used the resources to develop it separately for Mazda.

I saw a performance white 6 V6 yesterday on the hwy with dealer tags.

+1. Not a fan of the Mazda camry at all.

I hate to say it as well, but when I look at these pics, and then I look at my GF's '05 V6... I just like the way the first gen looks.

Don't get me wrong I actually like the way the front of the new Mazda6 looks, but I don't really like that backend at all, it looks too borrowed from Toyota...

The 2008 CX-9 has BSM, I believe Mazda developed their own system. I think you will see this integrated into the GT models of the whole Mazda line-up over the next two years. It's the next safety feature craze like stability control was over the least couple of years.

I don't know about it looking like a camry, but the first gen looks far more athletic and sporty while the new one looks not bad, but not as lithe and sharp as I expected. I'll still have one over ANYTHING else in it's segment though.

Better yet, I'd have the last gen body, with this new V6 motor. PERFECT!

Volvo first put a blindspot warning system on a car ~3 years ago. I guess Mazda could have developed it independently, but if they can take Volvo's system, why bother?

Call me old-fashioned, but I'll just look over my shoulder, thanks.

The BSM functions much like it does in the CX-9. When a car is on either side of you, the mirror has an amber light that shows a car with a sonar and a car to its side blind spot. If you turn your signal on and the light is on, it beeps at you. Otherwise it just lights up to signify that someone is in your blind spot. It's pretty accurate and gives you more than enough room to change lanes.

I can't recall if the passenger side mirror tipped down when in reverse. I will check next time I see one.

I'm talking about the tail lights... when I look at the back of the car the tail lights look like a Camry (or is it a corolla?) I just know it reminds me strongly of a toyota...

I'd definitely take the 2st gen M6 with the 3.5L v6 motor... now THAT would be a site (Also I think the 1st gen is lighter in weight, no?)

When I saw the performance white 6 I thought it looked like a TSX/TL in the front, Camry on the side, and Dodge Sebring in the rear.

I like this alittle better. Delete the red leather steering wheel.

To each his own...I do like the first one better. The red interior is best suited for BMW and Porsches I think. I hope Mazda makes this a reality. i would so trade in my car for the Mazdaspeed version. Hottness
