Occasional clunk

Quite often when I'm turning at a slow speed say into a parking lot I feel a slight clunk in the front of the car, seems like it's coming from the wheel. Happens on both sides. Any ideas what this could be?

Steering input shaft TSB

There's a version 3 of a grease (Mazda calls it 'super grease' they put on the shaft to stop the clunk. Telescope your wheel all the way in and out a few times in the meantime and it should go away for a week.

i had this same problem. and what brandini suggested fixed it, and not just for a week, its been over a month now.

Thanks guys, I'll try that. Sounds like it could be in the front end though as this car was lowered by the first owner. No idea if it was done right or not.
Had the car aligned, first owner never did it after he lowered it.We'll see what happens. It only happens when turning slowly and going over small bumps.

wow, this worked for me. Just went out and tried it, seems ok now. Lets see how long it lasts. I thought I was losing my CV joint.

I think I may have the same problem. I can hear a clunking noise sometimes at very low speeds usually when I'm slowing down coming to a stop. My car is bone stock, bought it pre-owned from Mazda dealership recently...

I took my car in for this clunk 3 times, and the techs have not duplicated my issue at all. Which is ridiculous being that it happens all the time.

Tried looking up the part # for the grease on Online Mazda parts, but nothing comes up. Anyone know the cost?

I'm gonna take mine to the dealer on Monday anyways, so I'm going to ask them to perform this.

Here's a hint. And if you meant you tried that online, I think it's a dealer only part.

First off, lose the attitude. I pulled up the TSB and found the part #, then tried to cross it on the OMP website. I'll be taking it in with me to have the SM look at it when its there.

1) It was sarcasm not attitude. I thought he completely missed it because it's words on a scrolling page and it happens.
2) Chill, if I wanted to have an attitude, it would be apparent, not an OMG you blind?
3) "I could not find the part #" can be construed as "I can't find the part #" rather than the indended "The part number brought up nothing."
4) Chill.

Any way to do this at home? I don't have the time to drop it off at a dealer for 2 days for a grease job.

My car has started making a noise recently when I turn the wheel. It's not a clunk that I feel through the wheel, it's a little clicking sound as the wheel goes around. I'm pretty sure it's in the wheel itself, and it almost seems like it only happens when I turn from left to right. I'm not positive, but it might have started after I readjusted the column recently.

Think it's the same thing, just a minor case of it? Or something else in the wheel?
