OBX install

I just ordered OBX header from Ken, I was wondering if it would be better to have an exhaust place put it on or I put it on. now If I have the exhaust place put it on I would think they would do the CEL fix. could be wrong tho.
open to any suggestions.

the install shouldnt be hard. just need the right tools for the job. if you dont have them and cant borrow some. then best bet would take it to a shop. if your willing to pay the install fee.


there is a how to around, that is pretty helpful. sure it will pop up if you search for it.

Yea I saw it. I saw both of them actually in the how to section.
Install fee will not much i have the connections to have it done.
Just wondering if that would be the easy way. and if anyone had it done by a shop and if they did the cel fix or you still had to.

I doubt they'd have a CEL fix for you, unless they have done a lot of protege's in the past and have that experience of the CEL with a header.

Its not that hard. And waiting for the exhaust isn't that big of a deal, its just a few bolts to unbolt the header from the stock piping.

To me the hardest part of my header install was the soldering of the CEL fix.

Yea, That will be a problem for me, I found one within that post where i do not need to do any soldering. I might try that. but the soldering one seems pretty simple. I just needs to get my hands on a soldering gun.

I got part HELP! #42002 from auto zone yesterday. going to to do the cel fix with those. header should be here on Monday. will do the install and let ya know how it goes. i cant wait...

I've done the obx install on my p5, so doing an Mp3 should be just as easy. Let me know if you need help.

Ok, So I got the header on... but was unable to remove the gasket ring. from the end of the old header so now I have a huge loud exhaust leak... anyone know where I can buy one?

Any of the major auto parts stores will have one. Checker, Pep Boys, Bumper to Bumper, etc...

nope. not even a muffler shop had one... had to order from the dealer.

Wow I had no problem at checker for my install!
