Is there a gasket that goes in where the header connects to the midpipe?

yes...it comes off of your original one for re-use. read the how-to...it's well documented. you have to kind of shimmy it off a bit.

the round dounut gasket. order it from mazda..

Doughnut gasket. Be carefull when trying to remove it. It might be stuck to the stock down pipe.

be careful when removing it... it dflakes away.. and i swear the fibres in it are bad... left a rash on my arm, coz the fibres went airborne...

I think the gasket is lead-based, so use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it off and avoid skin contact!

is this the same for the AWR header? do you have to use the stock size one or do you have to use a different sized one? anybody know?
