ummm...yea were pretty stupid and managed to strip one of the spring screws going after the first cat. Anyone have ideas on how to get it off? were in a big fix and we tried vice grips (slipped and it was damn tight) 14mm slips, 13mm too small even with bashing it on with a hammer it wouldnt fit. we need a way to remove a stripped bolt quick. please help

thats what i said, but they dont want the spring to take out someones leg. O well ill risk it, ill probably try again tonight

how did it strip in the first place? i know the bolts were probably rusted, but it shouldnt have stripped. i dont know what to tell you man. you need those to install your new header unless you buy replacements.

you could say fuggit and buy new spring loaded bolts and just dremel the old ones off.

you could rig up a spring and bolt combination with parts from ACE hardware, etc. cut the old stuff out if its that bad and buy some stainless steel bolts and some large coil springs from their fastener bin aisle. i'm amazed that those fuggers have given you so much trouble! sorry dude! :(

Yea i think im just gonnna get a new bolt/ washer set and re-use the old spring (if i can somehow dremel the bolt but not the spring. Im gonna wait till next week to do this though so ill let u know how it goes.

They do sell stripped nut removers that will bite in.. craftsman makes them. Nifty toys.

i did the same thing, i striped the nut, then broke the bolt. to get the nut off i picked up a set of craftsman bolt off's, to get the whole bolt out you can heat it with a trouch then spary water on it ,it should break free

the torch helps heat them up and disintegrates some of the rust and it typically loosens the bolt up and makes it a lot easier to get it off... the water part is a mystery to me... but I use a torch pretty often on stubborn bolts of rusted and not rusted nature :).

Yes, the water will cool the bolt, causing it to contract slightly. Plus it'll lubricate it to help it slide out.

Good luck Wwing! I wanna install my header soon too hehehe
