What does this tool do besides diagnostics ? is it possible to access options like lights auto shutting down ? windows closing when car is locked ? stuff like that ?
Kinda like VW's VIA-COM does.

Not that I'm aware of. I don't think it was designed for processing options

OBD II does not do those functions. obd II is OBD II. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD_II

as far as i know there are no consumer available products that can access those "other" functions if they even exist. mazda dealerships i believe can access some other options with their scanners though i am not sure which functions they have access to. this is not done via OBD. i do not believe there is anything like VWs vag-com

i work at a dealership, for chrysler, but the concept is similar. you need to find a solus by snap on or something equivalent. it can connect through the obd plug and communicate with all of the modules on most cars and program anything that has a module controlling it. options like what you are describing are limited, but im pretty sure u can set doors locking and stuff like that.

Great, thanks for the info on that tool, i should get a diagnostics tool anyways and if the Solus is a "bit" more expensive than the OBD-II i'll go for that.

My brother in law just purchased a snapon scanner and it set him back over $6500. He's going to check with the snapon rep when he show's up to train about setting options and if you're still looking for an answer I'll let you know.
