Other than being warned by a mod who thinks he's God because he donated a few bucks to the forum, nothing happened. Someone else talked about finding the upper limits of the CX9, and nothing happened to them. Everyone was excited to know the results. People DID, however, accuse me of being against such a thing because I had spoken out against the use of distractions and radar detectors.
When I do the very same thing, I get threatened by the mods for street racing. I did nothing of the kind. I chose a barren stretch of I-17, early Sunday morning, to see what that limit may be. The section had no on or off ramps, and the only other car was the Nissan, who was behind me. HE chose to try to keep up once I began my run. I wasn't racing him. I assumed all responsibility for any fine I may have acquired for speeding. If anything, I stopped someone else from wanting to try it. As I stated before, this was a one time test of the CX9s capabilities, and limits. (We don't have any public tracks nearby)
On open highways I typically drive within 5mph of the posted limit, and less if conditions require it. 55mph and under, or in populated areas, I ALWAYS drive the posted speed limit.
I'm also disappointed that people seem to prefer chaos and immaturity over adult conversations about our adult cars. I've never wanted anything here but to be able to ask, and answer, genuine questions about the Mazda CX9.
Yes, when some guy who still wants to impress high school girls comes here asking how to do something dumb to his CX9, I will always have an opinion about that. Am I not entitled? In the USA, everyone BUT CX9 SportOwner is allowed to speak their mind? It seems the ones who have the biggest problem with me are the ones who know I'm right about them, deep down.
I've become the poster child for flaming every time I call someone out for doing something immature or stupid. The other adults should thank me. Even when they post their agreement to whatever criticism I have, I'm singled out as the lone troublemaker.
If you come here and ask about something dumb like tinting your taillights, and nearly everyone says it's a stupid idea, or don't do it, maybe that means you shouldn't do it. Take that as your answer, instead of crapping on me because I was less diplomatic in my articulation of that opinion. That said, yes, I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve, and should exercise more restraint when posting, even when some dolt deserves it.
As for deleting my posts, I chose to do so with the hope that I could remain a member of this forum, and continue to help people. Not as a way to "take my ball and go home". I had about 2500 posts clogging up the forum. A point made by some of the very people criticizing me for deleting them. As time goes by, it's become very difficult to reference previous posts to answer a new question.
Most new members do not search for existing threads, they simply ask anew. As large as this forum has gotten, I can't blame them for not wanting to spend an hour searching through every thread for the answer.
I am simply clearing the way for new, and better informed, answers. Some of my previous posts are nonsense, arguments, outdated, or actually wrong, as we've learned more about the CX9. Why NOT delete them? All of the information I've posted, including photos, PDFs, and other files are still on my computer, ready to attach when needed.
Maturity and civility. That's all I expect of others in my age range. Leave the fart cans and fuzzy dice to the 2 and 3 owners.
