Not that impressed

If you have stock tires no wonder you're spinning so much. It's cold out.

+1 Please don't turn this into a "FWD sucks, AWD wouldn't have slid into the pole on summer tires in the snow/ice thread."

aka don't crash because you were hoonin' on the summer tires below 40degrees

i will like to change my opinion. was messing around with friends cobalt and i am VERY impressed with my car now. I love it.

i was kind of thinking you may have had something wrong or something, because my stock '09 would definitely spank a '95 cobalt SS.... now the new ones... hmmm.. another story all together :)

remember a car always feels faster in the passenger seat, for the most part..

i love giving unsuspecting bros a test drive... 'holy crap, what's in this thing?'

The summer tires in the winter are absolutely brutal. I bet your acceleration issues are related to this.

I can break the tires loose at the drop of a hat in 1st 2nd regardless how fast I'm going. The torque steer isn't bad at all but getting traction in the cold is impossible. Looking forward to the warmer temps this weekend to get a feel for what the car can do.

i was told, to break the car in, drive it as you intend to drive it for the life of the car......or maybe that applied to my motorcycle.... i don't know, either way same theory about seating the rings properly. plus i've heard that when it really matters is within the first 25 miles anyway. so douchebags test driving it can "break the car in" if that's true.

It says in the Owner's Manual to break the car in at various speeds.

if your buddy's cobalt ss is an 05, it means it's supercharged [not turbo] and only good for 200 hp. there's definitely something amiss there. you should be faster. cai will only help, but still...even stock he should be gagging on your exhaust, not the other way around...

05 cobalts were rated at 205hp but 95% will put down more than that on a dyno bone stock. Just so you know.

freinds cobalt has stage 2 so think it is making like 230ish HP. And from what i have been experiencing the torque steer isn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. Very easy controllable.

cobalt ss stage 2 which is pully injectors and a tune i believe only makes 235 wheel =/ oh that includes i/h/e
wow that's pretty lame then. so you spend money on :intake, header, exhaust, pulley, injectors, and a tune and only get maybe 30hp

The SS S/C'd Cobalt was weaksauce. Another example of GM's "Day Late Dollar Short" mentality. Back when Dodge was slingin the crap out of SRT4's (after the release of the F&F movie series), GM tries to come out with a slower pocket rocket. Their latest revision is a huge improvement in power, but I still can't live with one as a DD.

break in period is nonsense... i wouldn't run any kind of oil additives or switch to synthetic for a few 1000 miles, though.

our normal procedure has been:

build an engine
run at 2000-2500 rpms for first 15 minutes of life to seat bearings and lifters
run the crap out of it from then on...:)

I had mine at the drag strip the second night i had it (hand)

lol i pretty much did that to mine, except my s*** was on streets. but for reall its prolly ebtter than babying the car then getting on it hard, the car would be used to it
