So my break in period is over so finally started stepping on it, 1st few attempts roads we little slick so 2nd and 3rd my tires were spinning like crazy. found some dry roads and stepped on it again and idk if i have to get used to it or i am doing something wrong since it my first turbo car, but didnt seem to be as fast as i thought. My friends cobalt ss seemed faster. Need to install my boost gauge and see if my stock bpv is leaking or what. or just maybe gotta give it some time.

your friend's cobalt ss is faster if its and 08. faster isn't always better though. those cobalts inside feel like you got them at a $0.99 store. cheap.

1st problem was waiting until your break-in period was over to get on the car. You should have just gradually got on it every so often.

Keep in mind, boost doesn't build until 2500rpm so that might be part of the issue, and you have access to only 8psi in 1st and 2nd gear, and 15psi spikes with all the rest of the gears.

Otherwise, you might not be driving it right because I can yank people's heads backwards if I want.

Na his is an 05, also i pretty much get of the gas in like 4th since i am like already going 70. Guess is just have to get use to the car. yea i am going to get a cobb sri intake in a little

Typically, we'd recommend mods AFTER already enjoying the car for what it can do stock, as it is really impressive stock. And that's sorta the point..he's not diggin it stock so mods are only going to make it "Sorta better". When really, intake and bpv are going to make the car a total blast after already learning how to drive and use the boost. He said he wasn't sure if because it was his first turbo car or not he didn't know how to drive it..

I can say this, you cannot drive a turbo car like a higher hp NA car or even a S/C'd car. It's totally different.

i can definitely say the car is very different once you get to use all the boost

very true, i drove my car fast from the beginning, i even heard that getting on it was better for piston ring sealing or something

I had mine at the drag strip the second night i had it (hand)

i was told, to break the car in, drive it as you intend to drive it for the life of the car......or maybe that applied to my motorcycle.... i don't know, either way same theory about seating the rings properly. plus i've heard that when it really matters is within the first 25 miles anyway. so douchebags test driving it can "break the car in" if that's true.

if your buddy's cobalt ss is an 05, it means it's supercharged [not turbo] and only good for 200 hp. there's definitely something amiss there. you should be faster. cai will only help, but still...even stock he should be gagging on your exhaust, not the other way around...

now i may be putting foot in mouth here cause i have limited experience with cobalts, but if that cobalt is even slightly upgraded it can yield decent power......if my memory serves me right.

don't forget... a S/C will kick on earlier than a turbo, thats probalby the biggest difference your feeling.

cobalt ss stage 2 which is pully injectors and a tune i believe only makes 235 wheel =/ oh that includes i/h/e

If you car feels slower than a SS/SC then you might want to check to make sure the dealer didn't slap a mazdaspeed sticker on a regular three.

thats always a concern of mine, he should pop the hood and see of there is an IC on top of the engine haha

I went to a dealer once right when they came out with the Cobalt SS/SC and they dressed one up just like it, (this was before the 2.4L "SS"). Though they didn't put any indication it was an SS which was good, but I am sure they won't play it off as one to a uneducated person.

The speeds don't look a heck of a lot different than the standard 3s... It takes me a few seconds to say yes or no if it was a speed when I pass one, but the wing will be the #1 indicator.
