Not enough head room

My head hits the roof of my 2003 Protg5.

Does anyone have experience modifying the seat or replacing it with one that sits lower to the ground?

Man I'm 6'4" and have plenty of room. Have you tried adjusting the seat down? Also this is in the mazda5 forum, maybe mods can move it to the protege section
