Mazda announced today that it will install upgraded interior features for the North American launch of the 2011 Mazda2, which will be available in dealerships later this fall. The Japanese automaker unveiled the new interior of the 5-door Mazda2 at the 2010 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto today.

When compared to the current European edition, the North American Mazda2 will have an upgraded audio head unit, higher-grade climate control knobs, and seats with higher-grade fabric and stylish piping. Mazda said that overall look and feel of the North American Mazda2 will be less plasticky than the Euro edition.

Pricing details of the 2011 Mazda2 will be announced closer to launch date.

(attn) If you have additional juicy pics of the new interior, by all means post them here...I would love to see them...Thanks! :D

I was looking at the Mazda 2 at the Portland Auto Show. The interior is really close to the 07-09 model Mazda 2. It feels like a Mazda 3 in the cabin, just a little smaller.

Well, only piano look on HU looks interesting, everything else is almost the same...

It's also the "feel" that is upgraded / tweaked a bit which is always a good thing...(thumb)

Have you had a chance to ride in one over there? The one I was in was tuned by AutoExe so it was way past stock.

Hi guys =) I was the photographer that took those 2011 North American Mazda2 interior photos.

I was asked to photo shoot the global release of the interior of the 2011 North American Mazda2. Up until now, the Mazda2 going on the autoshow tour all had dark tints and locked doors which kept the media and pubic wonder what the interior was like.

Mazda had flown in one of the first pre-production North American spec Mazda2 the day before the photo shoot and I got to spend the day with it.

Here are the first photos of the 2011 Mazda2's interior!

I love those seats, they look sporty and comfortable. It's too bad they couldn't have spent a little more time on R&D to make those back seats fold flat. Regardless, I'm very excited for the 2's USA release!
Thanks for the nice collection of pics guys!

thanks very much for the pics. big thumbs up! interior looks pretty good. at least its satisfactory. cars in the class suffer from lousy interior styling. at least in my opinion.

what do you think of that shifter on the dash like that? i think its a little silly but might add to the overall quirky feel of the car. granted the car is spirited.

Nice :D

Cruise control.... in my country, we even don't have that in option...

I like that piano/glossy look on the HU, but that red switch for blinkers is too much :D, but what is that around him, maybe alarm sensors?!?!?

btw. that model has manual air conditiong, and gauages are regular :D

This is how it looks in my car :D

Noooooooooooooooooo, why oh why did they put the shifter in the dash? That alone is enough reason for me NOT to get one as a commuter.

Thank you for the pictures. The front to back shot makes the hatch cargo area look huge.

It is a great position, near stearing wheel........if you put armrest, it will be great....

I like the design with the shifter where is it.

Maybe I will get to push for an armrest to be made for the Mazda 2 when they are released and we get one.

i'm hoping the USDM version just comes with one. now that i think of it, i dont think i've ever owned a car without a middle armrest. i mean, what do you do with your right arm in between shifts?
