Hey all,
Does anyone know of any clubs around the Hampton Roads area either Mazda specific or just sport compacts. I've done a few searches but only found ones that you're required to put your car in shows (which i'm not ready for yet :P ), or lowrider clubs. Or if anyone around this area is interested in starting a club. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I saw that, but it looks like most of the club functions are all north, I'm in the navy and don't get a whole lot of time to travel that's why I'm looking for something closer to this area.

I know what you mean man. I always thought it was odd when I was stationed at NOB that there were so many sport compacts and so few clubs.

The best help I can give you a friend of mine's number. His name is Nick Prescott and the last time I checked he was an IT2. (Given the last advancement cycle I'm sure he still is.) Anyhow, he was in a tight knit local sport compact club so he might be able to point you in the right diretion. If you're interested, PM for his number.

Man, I know how you feel. When I lived in Virginia Beach and had my Eclipse GSX, all the good DSM meets were in the D.C. area. The ~3 hour drive each way started to suck after a while.

There is always us in North Carolina, but your going to run intoo the same thing

I'm not to far from your area. Only an hour n half or even an hour away. I know2 proteges in the 757 area. Push comes to shove, start your own club. Don't forget, theres always the Richmond area

Damn, if Richmond is only an hour away from Norfolk for you I don't even want to think how fast you drive down 64.

lol it depends on which way I go. To Va beach n Norfolk I take 460. To Newport news n Williamsburg, I take 64. But from Richmond to Norfolk...nah thats more then an hour. I'm in Petersburg.

Thanks for all the replies, Richmond would be cool if I still lived in Hampton, I'm moving over to the Greenbrier area soon. And despise the Bridge/Tunnel. I thought about North Carolina too, but it's the same kind of drive, and if I have to go through Emporia again I'll shoot myself (lol). As it is I'm thinking about starting one, for the Norfolk area if I can't find one soon. If anyone's interested let me know. Thanks again everyone.

Yeah, you're pretty much fokked if you're moving to Greenbrier in Chesapeake. The tunnel is a complete mess, and Emporia is cop heaven. Got pulled over doing 5 over in my arrest-me red 2000 Celica GT-S, but talked my way out of it by telling the cop I was driving down to NC to sell the car because it was too fast. :D

Man, you all are making me homesick for Hampton Roads. It really amazes me there isn't more intrest in a Hampton Roads Protege Club. I know there used to be at least five or six members on here from the area.

If I can swing getting stationed there again I'll look you up. lol. Gonna be a little while before I have to worry about that though.

That's the problem, man. So many residents of the Hampton Roads area are transient, as in a large percentage are military and will only be there for a few years until their next post ships them elsewhere. If there were more long-term residents, I think the interest in community type deals like clubs would be stronger.

True, true. But, at least Norfolk is one place where someone in the Navy could quite possibly spend their entire active duty career without having to relocate. That's one of the major reasons I wish I hadn't transfered from there.

you thinking about starting one? If you do, let me know. I might be interested. I know one protege owner in the 757 area. He goes to ODU to be exact. Maybe you can link up with him out there.

that person would be me

<---- is a protege owner, also goes to ODU. There are TONS of clubs around here, but none that I would want to be a part of 'cause they are full of half-done ricemobiles. Now a mazda-only club, that would be hot. I would definitely be interested.

koo, if we can get 3 or 4 people interested. Lets start something up.

Sounds good to me. If you don't want to make it protege only, i know a few people that are interested in joining a car club. They don't have great cars, but one's a pretty good mechanic, and the other is starting to put some mods on his car. Let's keep it going and see how many people we have interested in the 757 area.
