Has anyone tried Nokians before? I'm looking at the WRs or WRG2 for my next set. I want something that works in snow for the 2 or 3 days a year it snows here. They seem to be really expensive though, does anyone know where I might get them cheap online?

Nokian's are awesome, I run the RSi's and have never been disappointed with them in the winter or even on dry pavement. The WR's are considered an "all weather" tire rather than an "all season", they work better than some dedicated winter tires on snow/ice in tests I have seen.

I bought mine at Kal Tire, not sure if they are in BC.

Cool, yeah Kal Tire is in BC, how much did the RSi's cost you?

I purchased my car in December, and it came with a set of stock rims and Nokian Wr's that had been used about 3 seasons. My 02 had 42,800 mi when I bought it, so the previous owner didn't do much driving in the winter, as the tires looked like they were in excellent condition. We didn't get too much snow here in NJ either (Vancouver...mountains...Canada, not too much snow???), but the ice/sleet events, and one decent 8 inch storm was no match for these tires. I took every opportunity to see how the car would handle in these conditions, and I never turned white with fear. These are nice tires, very secure. Best of all, when it's dry, they're not too loud, and you can still corner quickly. I have 205/50/16s.

I'm not sure if I really need a set of snow tires/rims, as I can just drive my Odyssey when it's really bad. Would you be interested if I decided to sell them? Just wondering.

Thanks,

I've heard that they're great tires but they can be hard to find. I've been running Dunlop Wintersport M3 for the past two seasons and I have to say that they kick ass. The only problems I've had is when we got a 10" storm and the snow plows built up a 18-20" ridge at the end of my girlfriend's street. Can't fault the tires for that, as the snow was up past my grill and I just couldn't build up enough momentum to bust through it. Other than that, I can usually pass everybody else on the road during even the most severe snow storms and be in complete control.
