Noise levels from front and rear speakers (Fade control)

Hi All,

I have a SP23. I would appreciate if someone could adivse me if the following
behaviour of the sound system is normal. This is what i tried:

1. Turned up the volume to level 10.
2. Used fade control to turn all the sound to the rear speakers (R8)
and noticed the sound.
3. Used fade control to turn all the sound to the front speakers (F8)
and noticed the sound.

My observation is that when the fade control was on R8 the sound was less
in the rear speakers as compared to the sound in front speakers when
the control was on F8. I believe that the sound should be the same in
rear speakers when fade control is on R8 as compared to front speakers
when the fade control is on F8. Can anyone please advise me if the
behaviour that I am experiencing is normal or my beilef is wrong?
Should the front speakers sound louder that the rear speakers
when the volume level is same?

Another question is when the fade control is on zero, should the speakers
in front and back should have the amount of noise level?

If you do quite a bit a reading on here, you will come across several posts about the debate on whether rear speakers are necessary. Your die hards will tell you that you do not need the rears and everything you need will come from the fronts with a sub in the rear. Now, some of us prefer to be surrounded by the music. Your preference is your preference. Whatever it takes to help you enjoy your tunes. But, to answer your question, it is normal as you do want most the sound to come from the front with the rear to provide the "fill".

I personally only like sound in front of the listener as if you were at a concert or some sort of live performance. Unlike movies where some of the action may be behind the viewer you dont turn your back to a live performer. Anyways, I think your question was more or less related to the level of the audio rather than personal preference. Ive noticed that the front speakers seem louder than the rear speakers. Either this is true based on the factory tuning of the system or because of the cars acoustics the speakers just seem louder in the front. I think the front should be louder than the rear for the reasons I described above. If I was designing a system from scratch for my personal preference I would have no rear speakers. Most consumers like the fade control rather than just eliminating the rear completely so that is what car manufacturers do. However, I have noticed that the position of the fader determines the level of the bass coming form the system. The closer you get to the center position the louder the bass will be if you have a factory sub under the passenger seat.

Im not sure what you mean by noise level??
