Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

I could have CitizenPro get some measurements for you and see if yours line up exactly as the AWR has it if your curious...

Okay this build is just ridiculous. You are putting us all to shame, it's not even fair.

You dont need to be shamed... Threads like this are awesome, im glad to still see people fixing and making better these wonderfull cars, once they are well done they turn into some awesome and sick rides. **** Evos and Stis as SRTs..... well done Protege is simply the s***.. lol lol lol

A little FYI about the shroud and fans. AWR asked for the part number to the fans, so they could pre-drill the holes and insert keen-sert's to mount to your specific Slimline fan. They made it very simple to just bolt everything together, no drilling or modifying.

i know its off topic but are yall still coming down for the meet

back on topic that radiator set up is sexy as hell i just installed the mishimoto alum radiator and had to modify my fans and make them slim fans to fit they didnt fit and were pushing in the little fins in the radiator or what ever they are called but it is no where near as sexy as yours

Hey speedracr, tbh I'm not even sure, I'm going to be really busy that month. I'm moving into my own place, brother is having a birthday party and there is just way to much stuff going to be happening... It sucks, but maybe next year when everything settles down I'll go.

Yeah, after reading about radiator's and how people needed to find ways to mount fans and what not, I was lucky to read AWR made a nice shroud for there model. Like CitizenPro said, they were cool enough to sell the shroud separate and let us give them the model of the Spal slim-line fans so they could drill the hoses. Boy did they do a great job.

To install slim fans on a rad all you need is a washer with a smallish hold. small enough so a Ziptie can go through it but the end where the zip tie gets "locked" in at doesnt go through. Put it on both sides (washer) and feed the zip tie through it and grab another zip tie and put it on the end so mainly it holds the slim fan on. Thats what I did and it works PERFECT and I used black zipties I had laying around and it looks great to. If you dont understand I can draw up a pic on MS paint. lol

^ Don't get me wrong I'm sure we would have figured it out, but I wanted to keep away from zip ties and what not.

plus the zipties get brittle with the heat cycles over and over, i had that on my 10" slim fan and when i went to take it off they just snapped
You can buy like a universal slim fan mounting kit...thats what i have, there like beefed up zip ties, works awesome

the shroud is def alot cleaner then my setup though lol

Ron Davis Aluminum High Performance Radiator Install

Installed the Ron Davis Rad, and everything went pretty smooth......a few modifications to some parts, but nothing that slowed down the process all that much. Everything fits tight & snug, and all parts are minding their own space (all parts are NOT touching). I'm happy to be getting everything bolted up and know it works together, so when I tear it all down to install a built long block....I know it will all bolt back together :) 505 Intake Manifold will be installed this coming weekend.

SpeedCircuit's waterneck kit was the first to get bolted up....

As you can see, it fits very well with the Perrin/Turbolife hot pipe....

I was previously having issues lining up the hot pipe with the coupler (AC line prevents you from moving it to your liking), so I decided to get it modified and be done with it. Brought the pipe to PowerFab Auto and they got it lined up just right...

Wired up the Spal Connectors for the fans...

Had to modify 1 of the Spal Fans, It was hitting the compressor side of the turbo / Coupler.. (Rad + Shroud + Fans = 4 3/4" thick)

Fan does NOT hit the turbo or coupler when turned on...

No, I have different plans for my final build.

That cold air box does look hella clean though...

Definitely man, Different Strokes for different Folks..... Trust me once you finish up putting all of the parts together and tune your car you will fall in love with it. They are great cars once you do what Mazda didnt.....
