Is there another reservoir for the rear wiper, if there is I can't find it. Or does it come from the front res?

uses the same reservoir. There are 2 pumps on the bottom one for the front one for the rear, the rear line goes inside the front fender then up the a pillar all the way to the back of the car on the inside of the car to the rear hatch.

plug the 2 lines backwards (like i did)
lol, i was confused for a min but heh yeah, mark your lines so you dont cross-plug them

Mineral build up in the line maybe from someone getting lazy and using straight water, or maybe tge pump is out? When you hit the wiper thing for the spray in the rear, does it make the noise like a pump is running?

^^^this, I replaced my pump a couple of years ago as it was doing the same thing. Bought it from OMP for around $45 and it was easy to replace. Just make sure your resovoir is empty first or you'll have a bit of a mess to clean up, ask me how I know. lol

Ok, thanks guys. I will have to give it a listen without the radio going. I am old and my hearing aint what it used to be. 3 good answers, and Jeff making me lol with the ever popular "ask me how I know" line.

Also bear in mind (I know this sounds dumb, but it's worth considering) that I find the rear stops working just before I run out of fluid. I can normally get another wash or two with the front even though the rear is acting like it has no more fluid. Sometimes the simplest solutions end up being the answer!

^this

The pump for the rear is up a bit higher than the front so it will stop spraying while the front will still spray a while longer.

Well, I tried the rear washer yesterday and it worked. It released liquid anyway, just like the front, 2 streams that seem to be in the wrong place or wrong timing with the wiper. Perhaps the dipwad that owned my car previously ran water and it froze up. I'll top it of with the good stuff and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again guys.

Great to hear it is working. Did you by chance add fluid like mazdaspeeder suggested? That is what I did and after it didn't work, I ordered the new pump from OMP and the day it came in I went out to install it and forgot that a few days earlier I had filled the resovoir. Remember the old Bugs Bunny cartoons with the "jack-ass" silouhettes...that was me. haha

It definitely can freeze up...I have had that happen if I still have some summer fluid in the reservoir when it gets cold. Glad it wasn't anything serious!

I just bought a protege5 yesterday and I'm having a similar problem but its my front window washers are not working. You can hear the motor turn on for the rear but not for the front. I cleaned them out with a needle at the nozzle and compressed air through the lines.

Did I read correctly that there is TWO pumps for the washers, one for the front one for the back? If so replace the front pump?

Thank you.
