2004 Mazda RX-8
I'm just looking for like a 20hp gain in my mp3, I have a cold air intake and a apex exhaust. I was thinking about nitrous, does anyone know if it will be ok to run on a stock motor its my dd in the warmer days so I don't want to kill my car, or if anyone else know any other good tips on boosting hp, but I'm really green when it comes to doing things myself I have a bunch of friends that help me.does anyone have a est. of hp, with a exhaust, and cold air?Cause for right now I'm just looking to get around 200hp, till I can afford a turbo.
 
u probbaly gained 4-7whp with the exhaust / intake .without a nice shot of nitrous or a turbo i dont see u getting 200hp n/a without some serious work and money
 
SO does that mean I could run nitrous without doing damage to my car, and on a stock motor?and what is safer to run dry shott or wet shot, and I'm new to all this stuff is it like the movies and I have to push a button cause I think a kid I talked to a while ago said that if you turn it on it would auto spray when I hit higher rpms is that true? Cause that would be more of what I would be looking for.
 
The general consensus is not to run nitrous on an FS-DE....weak rods. And with the MP3's advanced timing.........I wouldn't do it. Save your money.
 
then my question is how do I get to 200 hpwithout shelling out 3500 on a turbo, yes I do want a turbo and the plan is to get a turbo but thats a year or 2 down the road.spend a few hundred I dont mind but a few grand thats a different story.

What?!?! No dude the sytem is fully automated and turns on at when 100 % throttle (AKA W.O.T.) once the system is engaged.
 
Oh i see, now thanks for all the info and for the link to the basics of nitrous, I looked all over for anything on it and I couldn;t find it anywhere. thanks

there is plenty of documented word on this forum of people who have fubar'ed their engines using nitrous, wet, dry, safe, unsafe, whatever you want to call it. i would say not only the weak rods contribute to it but the head design as well. going nitrous or turbo should be done with alot of research and information. use the search function and you will find a wealth of past experience from owners current and former.

to get 200 wheel horsepower N/A or turbo without spending a few grand is frankly unrealistic.
 
Thanks I used the search function and wow there are alot of thnigs on here and it sounds like the same hing don't use spray unless I want a new car. Thanks for everyones info
