Crap, I thought I was going to introduce myself in style. I would have my car done, take it to a scenic place, take some photos and post them here so that I can get a lot of wow, nice car, welcomes.
Sadly thats not the case. As some of you know I bought a wrecked P5 not too long ago. It looked like a little bit of body work and just switching out some of the passenger side suspension components. HA! That didn't happen either. After starting to work on the car we discovered the tranny was busted so as of right now we are trying to stick the tranny in and while we are at it we're switching out the power steering column, the axles, and pretty much the whole front suspension. So far two days and 22 hours of work later we have not been able to successfully get this thing back on the ground. Just wanted to say that this is the best forum I have been on and I hope that one day I can actually post a few pics of a finished car.
For now though, I offer you nothing but a raw P5er's nightmare in pictures:
Crap, I don't know how to upoad the images into the thread, oh well. Here are the photos as attachments.

Well, it's good to see not only you are building the car yourself, but doing it with your father. THATS AWESOME DUDE! And welcome to the board(14 posts late:D) but still, always good to see n00bies, specially ones with family values, and ones that work on their cars themselves. You are a better person than I. Me+my dad=hahahahahahaha, and me+doing labour=hahahahahahahaha...lol:D

this might actually be a blessing of sorts. If I were you I would upgrade my suspension and get a Mazdaspeed tranny(lsd), and stronger axles. would help if you decide to go turbo later down the road.

Geez i cant even get my ass outside to wash my car let alone rebuild the ****** thing. Kudos to you and your pops.

Been there, done that more times than I wanna count...:( Great that your dad is working with you. We need more of that.

Damn! Some questions:

Why did you buy a wrecked car?

How much did you pay for it?

How many hours total do you think it will take to get it on the road?

How much did you spend to get it on the road?

Well, I bought the car for $2300, its a 02 model with 79k miles on it. So far with all parts and aftermarket accessories it has cost me $6000. That does include rims, cf hood, intake, lowering springs and better shocks, and a nice sound system. I'm really lucky because one of my friends had a totaled P5 and I got all the mechanical parts I need for $270. It would have cost me $3900 if I got them from the dealer.
So in the end this thing hopefully should still be a bargain for me. The only problem so far is the one that stopped us from finishing it yesterday. One of you guys may know the answer to this.
Before we put the tranny on the torque converter plate turned without any big problems. Now that the tranny is on, you can hardly move it. It needs to be rotated so that we can screw the bolts back in, but it seems to be stuck. Any ideas. And thanks for all the comments.

Oh yeah and hopefully next Tuesday we can get this thing rolling. Then its off to the body shop for two weeks and then hopefully I'll be driving my baby

Wow, sounds like a pretty sweet deal if everything goes as planned. Good luck with your endeavors. Sorry I don't have the knowledge to answer your tranny question.

Wow, that is amazing. Why dont you throw in awr motor mounts in while the car is "in pieces" for now.
