Guys,
I chewed up my carrier bearing in my tranny, I was thinking about buying a MSP tranny for the Limited Slip benefit....is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but you will have to crack open the transmission to install the pink speedo gear off of your old tranny since the MSP tranny doesn't use a speedo gear, it gets its speedo reading from the ABS sensor on the Speed.

Are you serious?
How involved is that? Is there a chance I will crack it open and I can't get it back together correctly or not seal it back properly? Would this be worth the MSP upgrade or should I just stick with the regular tranny?

I would say unless you autox or plan to go turbo you would be fine with an opened differential.

There was a revision to the protege tranny in early 02 upgrading shift forks and synchros so try to find an 02.5 or later. I'm not exactly sure, I think it's after manufacturer's date of 3/02.
