New to the ms3, got a question....

Mine made the same noise back in January, but I haven't heard it since. When I mentioned it to the dealership, they said it was probably the steering pump and told me not to drive with the steering wheel locked in the parking lot. -_-a

the amster tech first told me its the pump but the sound is definitely not, this week they are installing the new struts because the mazdausa tech team told them to replace that.. if the problem continues, ill cry

So after driving it for a week, still making the same noise. It's like a quiet owl sound I agree. It happens mostly when I turn the wheel. I can not figure out what it is. Im hoping it is the brakes. Anyone can figure it out please fill me in.

i think i had this problem before. a little noise when I make really slow small turns, but mine was disappear after 8k miles. don't know why~

Advice to all who are under 1k miles:

TAKE IT HARD, not easy. It will smoothen the pistons better and you will actually have the similar performance from when you just got it.

Can someone confirm what blackjack just said. I thought it was better to take it easy for a 1k miles. I got almost 200 miles on it, could use some advice. Any more input on the owl noise????

That has been discussed a million times. Look up break-in period in any forum/ web. Basically, some say to run it hard and do many oil changes (like within the first 20 miles) to make the piston rings seal better. Others say baby it until 600miles (1000km). I personally followed the Mazda manual, but frankly I couldn't care less since I have not owned one vehicle for more than 4 years before going to another.

Although this is a very controversial issue, I think what blackjack said has much validity. I'm no expert by any means - in fact the complete opposite - people usually end up doing what they feel is the best for their car regardless of what others say. *^_^*
